male support worker

to provide practical and emotional support to

male clients

across Gloucester.

Please note:

Due to the nature of personal care and the preferences of the individuals being supported, this role is open to

male applicants only

, in accordance with Schedule 9, Part 1 of the Equality Act 2010.

About the Role:



As a Support Worker, you will assist male clients--many of whom are living with ADHD, learning disabilities, or acquired brain injuries (ABI)--to maintain their independence and improve their quality of life. Your support will range from day-to-day tasks at home to accompanying clients to appointments, shopping, and other community activities.

Key Responsibilities:



Drive clients to and from essential appointments (e.g., GP, hospital, Job Centre, housing services). Assist clients with budgeting, reading mail, and completing official forms. Support with homelessness applications and signposting to appropriate services. Work closely within a multi-disciplinary team including family members, social workers, occupational therapists, mental health teams, and more. Promote independence in household tasks such as laundry, meal preparation, and maintaining a clean home. Encourage and support good personal hygiene and routines. Help build social confidence and life skills in the community.

Essential Requirements:



Male support worker

(Equality Act 2010, Schedule 9 compliant). Full UK

driving licence

with

clean driving record

. Access to a car with

business insurance

. Good communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills. Ability to maintain professional boundaries while building trust with clients. Basic IT literacy for recording notes and communicating with teams. Understanding of adult safeguarding protocols.

Desirable Experience (training will be provided):



Supporting individuals with: ADHD (including teenagers) Learning disabilities Acquired brain injury (ABI) Working with vulnerable adults or those at risk of homelessness. Supporting clients with accessing benefits, services, and advocacy. Understanding of Positive Behaviour Support is crucial.
