We are seeking an experienced and proactive Accountant to join our team and support the business with accurate, insightful, and timely financial information.
Role Overview
You will be responsible for the core accounting functions including Sales Ledger, Purchase Ledger, Nominal Ledger and VAT, by managing day-to-day bookkeeping, producing monthly management accounts, and preparing and submitting VAT returns. This is a key role requiring excellent attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and the ability to work independently.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain accurate and up-to-date bookkeeping records
Prepare monthly management accounts, including analysis and commentary
Process, prepare, and submit VAT returns in line with HMRC requirements
Reconcile bank accounts, control accounts, and balance sheet schedules
Assist with year-end processes and liaise with external auditors as required
Support internal teams with financial queries and provide ad-hoc reporting
Ensure compliance with internal controls and financial policies
About You
Professional qualifications with AAT/ACCA/ACA/CIMA (or equivalent experience)
Strong bookkeeping and month-end accounting experience
Good understanding of VAT regulations and submission processes
Excellent numerical accuracy and organisational skills
Proficient with accounting software (Preferably Sage) and Microsoft Office
Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
Strong communication and problem-solving abilities
