Position Overview
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Management Accountant to join our finance team at our Cheltenham dealership. This role is pivotal in producing accurate financial accounts for two dealerships, managing cash flow, overseeing debtors, and providing insightful financial data to inform strategic decisions. The Management Accountant will report directly to the Finance Director and Board of Directors, playing a key role in financial planning and performance management.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting:
Prepare monthly management accounts, including Profit & Loss statements, Balance Sheets, and Cash Flow statements for two dealerships.
Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting in compliance with accounting standards.
Cash Flow Management:
Monitor daily cash flow positions and forecast future cash requirements.
Manage working capital to ensure sufficient liquidity for operational needs.(careerexplorer.com, en.wikipedia.org)
Debtor Management:
Oversee accounts receivable, ensuring timely collection of outstanding debts.
Implement effective credit control procedures to minimize bad debts.
Budgeting and Forecasting:
Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and periodic forecasts.
Analyze variances between actual results and budgets/forecasts, providing explanations and recommendations.
Financial Analysis:
Conduct financial analysis to support business decisions, including cost analysis, margin analysis, and profitability assessments.
Provide financial insights to the Finance Director and Board to inform strategic planning.
Internal Controls and Compliance:
Ensure adherence to internal financial controls and company policies.

System and Process Improvement:
Identify opportunities to enhance financial systems and processes for increased efficiency and accuracy.
Collaborate with IT and other departments to implement improvements.
Team Collaboration:
Work closely with dealership management teams to understand financial performance and support operational objectives.
Provide financial training and guidance to non-financial staff as needed.
Qualifications and Experience
Qualified or part-qualified accountant (e.g., ACCA, CIMA, ACA).
Proven experience in a management accounting role, preferably within the automotive or retail sector.
Strong understanding of financial reporting, budgeting, and cash flow management.
Proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Desirable Attributes
Experience with dealership management systems (DMS).
Knowledge of automotive industry financial practices.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
