Summary
"Management Accountant" role based in our offices in Devizes, Wiltshire a rare opportunity to take full ownership of the finance function within a growing business.
Currently the only finance role in the company, this position requires someone who is comfortable operating across all levels -- from posting invoices and managing day-to-day transactions, through to producing management accounts, supporting strategic decision-making, and presenting financial insights to senior leadership and the board.
Responsibilities
Prepare and analyse financial statements to ensure accuracy and compliance.
Manage accounts payable and receivable processes efficiently.
Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities.
Utilize accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, and PeopleSoft to maintain accurate records.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve financial processes.
Mentor junior staff in financial procedures and best practices.
Ensure adherence to regulatory standards and internal policies.
Assist in audits and other financial reviews as needed.
Reporting, Planning & Insight
Prepare monthly management accounts and financial statements
Lead budgeting, forecasting, and cashflow planning activities
Provide clear financial analysis and commentary to support business decisions
Present financial performance and insights to senior leadership as required
Proven experience as a Management Accountant or similar role is essential along with the skills below;
Ability to partner with teams across the business to improve financial processes and commercial understanding
Establish scalable finance processes and reporting as the company grows
Act as the primary finance contact for external financial reviews, HMRC enquiries, and future statutory audit readiness
Expert-level user of Xero, with the ability to manage an end-to-end finance function independently
Comfortable being hands-on with transactional accounting while also delivering strategic insight
Strong understanding of financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and cashflow management
Confident communicator, able to explain financial information to non-finance stakeholders
Highly organised, detail-oriented, and proactive
