About the role:



This role forms part of the Accounting and Reporting Team responsible for maintaining accurate general ledger and sub-ledgers, cumulating in the delivery of high quality Management Accounts, Group Report and Statutory Accounts.

The role is responsible for contributing to diligent accounting, and assisting the Senior Financial Accountant and the Senior Management Accountant in examining current systems processes and procedures to review, to identify areas for improvement, align processes across the business, and implement best practice and ways of working. As part of the Accounting and Reporting Team, the core objective is to support the delivery of all relevant outputs for the group's reporting calendar for local management and Sonic group, and any analysis associated.

The role would suit someone with an analytical mindset, adapt at interrogating systems and spreadsheets, and implementing improvements and refinements.

Main Duties:



This is a broad role, with responsibilities for delivering work of a consistently high quality under pressure to senior audiences. Reporting into the Senior Financial Accountant and working within a team of Management Accountants, this role will be expected to support the overall team objectives and not constrain themselves to their allocated deliverables.

Month end Management Accounting:

Work with the Management Accountants Team to deliver the accounting of the monthly profit and loss accounts and balance sheets for the group, identifying any prepayments or accruals required for month end reporting including correcting entries for reallocations when identified. Preparation of detailed variance analysis to investigate and understand.

P&L ownership and commentary:

Contribute to the preparation of divisional profit and loss accounts including commentary for reporting to the Board. Responsible for developing and maintaining excellent working relationships with business stakeholders to drive insightful analysis and understanding within the business.

Fixed Assets:

Maintain Fixed Asset Registers for multiple legal entities ensuring VAT compliance. Responsible for ensuring Fixed Assets are accounted for correctly included Capex/Opex categorisation and depreciation policies, and maintenance of associated balance sheet reconciliations. The successful candidate will be keen to drive business insights through the preparation of insightful analysis, cost centre reporting and business partnering.

IFRS 16 Lease Accounting:

Prepare and document monthly balance sheet reconciliations, including IFRS16 Lease accounting, and investigate and clear down any reconciling items in a timely manner and ensure compliance with Sonic Group accounting policies.

Intercompany ownership:

Oversee all intercompany reconciliations and responsible for establishing and maintaining key intercompany relationships to ensure intercompany balances agree and eliminate on consolidation. Contribute to the preparation of period reconciliations to identify transactions that should be recharged between companies within the Group.

Tax:

Supporting the Tax Manager with the preparation of VAT returns and other tax compliance requests, including capital allowances analysis. Assistance in preparation of tax packs as part of annual tax computation process.

Audits and Statutory Reporting:

Being the key support for the Senior Financial Accountant in the statutory audit process, including maintaining excellent working relationships with the auditors, coordinating audit requests and preparing draft Statutory Accounts.

Budgets and Forecasts

: Contribute to the preparation of the annual budgets and forecasts, through effective business partnering with key operational contacts.

Process and continuous improvement:

The candidate should have the overriding objective to constantly review and improve processes and outputs, with the drive and initiatives to suggest and implement change. The candidate is expected to identify opportunities for improvement and to assist with streamlining relevant processes and controls.

General Duties:


Develop a full understanding of how the Finance team is structured and the work that contributes to the balances in the general ledgers. This will involve a clear understanding of system and other processes that lead to data input and calculations. To undertake such work as you are assigned in a careful and efficient way and in compliance with regulatory and accreditation bodies. You will be trained for the work that you are expected to perform. To communicate in a friendly, helpful, and non-prejudicial manner in your dealings with staff, clients and/or customers as you will be regarded as a representative of your staff and department as well as the Company, and you should behave accordingly. Matters regarding patients and your staff are confidential and must not be discussed except in the course of your duties. You will be expected to sign a confidentiality agreement. To be aware of and abide by the rules and codes of conduct of the department. This is particularly important in the case of Health & Safety and Fire procedures. To behave in a professional manner and always co-operate with all other members of staff. Staff will participate in the Annual Joint Review procedure, and this job description will be reviewed as part of the Annual Joint Review procedure. Hours are standard but the nature of the work may mean that occasionally (e.g., year-end) the incumbent will be required to work flexible hours to ensure delivery on obligations. To attend department meetings, training sessions and departmental audits as required. To always maintain the highest standards of quality within the department. Other duties as specified by the Senior Financial Accountant.
