Role Description
This is a full-time Management Accountant role based on-site in London. The role involves overseeing the management accounts and owning the end-to-end bookkeeping of several entities within the Group, including the reconciliation of balance sheet and P&L accounts for month/quarter/year end close, assistance in preparation of statutory accounts and financial reporting, and reviewing accounts payable, accounts receivable and credit control areas.
The Management Accountant will report directly to the Group Financial Controller and be expected to assist in additional tasks including helping with the audit process, the implementation and maintenance of controls and internal processes and supporting the Finance team members with ad hoc projects.
Working across the Group, the responsibilities of the Management Accountant are, in more detail:
Recording, processing and reconciliation of revenue and purchase ledger transactions as well as revenue analysis.
Monthly/quarterly reconciliations of balance sheet accounts including bank and inter-company accounts, prepayments, accruals and other control accounts, including processing of general ledger journals.
Monthly/quarterly reconciliations of P&L accounts including variance analysis and analytical review of material variances.
Maintaining and reconciling the fixed asset schedule and ensuring depreciation is recorded accordingly.
Liaising with other departments in the Group on matters including lettings, refurbishment of properties, cost tracking and budgeting.
Assisting with the optimisation of the IT systems used in your role by investigating functionality and enhancing benefits derived from the tools over time.
Help identifying areas for improved automation and systems and expected benefits of various tools and processes.
Reviewing trial balances for each company to ensure accuracy and completeness.
Assisting the Group Financial Controller team in reviewing the financial statements for the different entities and providing information to external auditors and other external service providers.
Providing cover for rent allocations when required.
Contributing to the ongoing improvement of finance systems and processes.
Supporting the wider finance and business teams with ad-hoc tasks as needed.
Qualifications
Part-qualified ACA, ACCA
Experience using NetSuite is highly desirable
Knowledge of different IT systems and the ability to use, assess and implement them
Experience in financial and management accounting and reporting, including financial statements
Strong attention to detail, with solid bookkeeping and overall trial balance and balance sheet knowledge
Experience in property management or the student accommodation sector is a plus
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential - must be able to work effectively in a team
Positive, proactive and eager to learn, with a collaborative mindset

Based on-site 5 days per week, Monday to Friday 9am-6pm, office located in Hackney
Salary on offer between 35,000-45,000, depending on experience
