We are fast-growing UK-based business in the renewable energy sector, known as a knowledge partner specialising in grid connection equipment manufacturing and power studies. With a forecasted 10M turnover and 40+ employees, we are scaling our operations significantly over the next five years and are investing in building a robust finance function that supports strategic decision-making, scalable growth and ensures compliance.

The Role



We're looking for a commercially focused and detail-driven Management Accountant to join our finance team as a key player in the next phase of our growth. Reporting to the Financial Controller, this role is hands-on, owning day-to-day finance operations while helping to shape scalable processes and support decision-making across the business.

You'll prepare timely and accurate monthly accounts, support budgeting and forecasting, ensure transactional accuracy, and help drive financial control. You'll also partner with teams across the business, working closely with operations, manufacturing, and senior leadership. It's a brilliant opportunity for a newly qualified (or finalist) accountant with manufacturing or project-based experience to take on more ownership and impact in a growing and purpose-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities:



Month-End & Reporting



Prepare monthly management accounts, including journals for accruals, prepayments, payroll, and revenue recognition Ensure correct accounting treatment for project-based deliverables and validate COGS Produce reporting packs across revenue streams and company level performance Reconcile balance sheet accounts and investigate any anomalies

Cash & Treasury



Maintain weekly cashflow forecasts and oversee daily cash monitoring Assist with bank postings and prepare proposed supplier payment runs Monitor working capital metrics including DSO, DPO, Inventory Turnover, and CCC

Inventory & Operational Finance



Reconcile inventory accounts including GRNI/WIP, investigate variances and improve controls Partner with operations to support inventory, stock movement, and costing visibility Own day-to-day financial operations including AP, AR, reconciliations and month-end activities

Support & Planning



Support the budgeting and forecasting cycles with variance analysis and insight Work with internal teams to improve financial transparency on job costing and project tracking Produce weekly sales reports and contribute to internal reporting packs

Compliance & Controls



Lead on quarterly VAT returns and payroll accuracy Support audit preparation and liaise with external auditors at year end Assist with R&D claim preparation and compliance submissions Drive process improvements and help develop scalable finance systems and controls

Collaboration & Development



Support the development of junior team members and help build finance understanding across departments Work closely with the Financial Controller to meet internal and external reporting deadlines

About You:



Essential



ACA / ACCA / CIMA qualified or finalist Experience preparing management accounts and managing operational finance (AP/AR/cashflow) Strong understanding of UK GAAP and FRS 102 Familiarity with multi-currency environments and standard costing principles Confident using Excel and comfortable building or improving finance processes Experience working in a manufacturing or project-based business Good knowledge of VAT, payroll, and general compliance requirements Detail-focused with a proactive and hands-on approach Strong communicator with the ability to engage across finance and non-finance teams

Desirable



Exposure to R&D tax relief claims Experience with cloud-based ERP systems (e.g., Odoo, NetSuite, Xero) Interest or experience with Power BI or other data visualisation tools
