Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Management Accountant to join and lead our finance team. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills and a comprehensive understanding of financial management principles. This role involves overseeing financial operations, preparing reports, and providing strategic insights to support decision-making processes. The Management Accountant will also play a key role in mentoring the finance team and ensuring compliance with financial regulations.

Responsibilities

Prepare and analyse monthly management accounts with full variance analysis and commentary, ensuring accuracy and adherence to deadlines. Oversee accounts payable processes, ensuring timely payments and accurate record-keeping. Work closely with operations and production teams to understand and improve financial performance. Conduct financial forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis to support and align with our business objectives. Provide insights into financial performance and recommend improvements for operational efficiency. Mentor the finance team, fostering their professional development and enhancing team capabilities. Ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations and standards in all accounting practices. Collaborate with external auditors, tax advisors, and other stakeholders as required.

Requirements

Fully qualified accountant (CIMA / ACCA / ACA) - SME (Small and Medium-sized Entity) reporting knowledge essential. Minimum 3-5 years of experience in a Management Accountant or similar role. Strong proficiency in accounting software including Sage. Solid understanding of financial management principles and practices. Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey financial information clearly. Experience working in an SME environment with hands-on involvement across finance operations. Experience or interest in the manufacturing industry is highly advantageous. Experience in mentoring or training staff is highly desirable. Knowledge of financial accounting principles and best practices is essential.
