Job Description

The role requires the timely and accurate preparation and review of the monthly consolidated group management accounts including preparation of a comprehensive month end file in the required format and other ad hoc projects as required by the business.

THE ROLE IS OFFICE BASED.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES



Timely and accurate preparation of Group Management accounts Ensuring all journals and other source documents are kept in appropriate filing systems so that they can be easily retrieved when required. Liaising with the System Manager to ensure that the fixed asset register is maintained and the reconciliation between Syrinx (Hire management software) and Sage 200 is completed each month. Monthly balance sheet reconciliation, identifying and rectifying any issues in the month. Maintenance of the Sage 200 Nominal Ledger and managing the opening and closing of accounting periods in all Sage 200 ledgers (Sales, Cash Book, Purchase and Nominal). Contribute to the development of our systems and procedures by suggesting improvements. Completing Monthly/Quarterly National statistics returns. Assisting the Group accountant and Financial Controller in preparing statutory accounts and providing the necessary information required by the external auditors. Assisting in providing the bank with relevant information for the asset based lending audit. Providing cover for daily cash book postings. Undertaking other ad-hoc tasks as the Company may from time to time require. Comply with company policies and procedures to ensure a safe working environment Undertake drugs and alcohol screening on a random basis. Report any accident, incident or near miss in which you are involved or are witness to.

SKILLS, EXPERIENCE & TRAINING



Part-qualified accountant that can demonstrate strong work experience. Good communication skills with a polite but assertive manner and a willingness to take responsibility for solving problems. Diligent with high level of attention to detail. Experience and understanding of preparing management and year end accounts. A clear appreciation of the purpose of management information to support decision making and a flexible approach to ensuring that the information is both useful and consistent with other information available. Computer literate, conversant with Microsoft Office products, in particular advanced Excel, knowledge of purchase order processing and purchase ledger systems. Essential: Several years of experience in a business or finance environment; outstanding mathematical skills; honesty; reliability; analytical skills; understanding of data privacy standards. Desirable: Sage 200 Accounts, Syrinx Hire Management System, previous experience in an owner managed plant hire/construction business.
