The Woodshack Limited (trading as Calshot) is a bespoke restoration business located at James' Wharf in Southampton. We have been responsible for crafting, restoring, and repurposing an array of historical and vintage items. All works, including the construction of artisan furniture or restoration of vehicles and vessels, are completed on site in a way that honours tradition, craftsmanship and quality. As a Group, we are continually developing and work in a truly unique environment. The business is currently undertaking significant capital projects including re-building of workshops and new offices and improving Southampton's last remaining working dry dock.
Due to a new shipbuilding contract, we are now looking for a dynamic, capable and committed Management/Project Accountant to join our finance team based at our site in Southampton. The successful candidate will be professional, personable with the ability to form effective working relationships within Calshot's growing team.
The role will include (but not limited to) the following:
Working as part of a close-knit finance team, the successful candidate will take ownership of:
Preparing monthly management accounts including month-end journals and balance sheet reconciliations.
Preparing and monitoring internal and external financial information for the shipbuilding side of the business. This includes budgets, forecasts and actuals to date.
Assist the Senior Finance Manager with the preparation of forecasts and budgets at both project and company-wide levels.
Provision of ad-hoc financial reports and analysis as requested.
Assist and oversee company administration tasks as appropriate. This may include: ONS survey submissions, VAT and other HMRC/tax related tasks.
Provide year end reconciliations for statutory accounts and assist with requests from Auditors
Assist the Senior Finance Manager with the management and implementation new and existing financial systems.
Providing cover for colleagues during periods of absence/high workload.
Person specification
? Full Qualification ACA, ACCA or CIMA or QBE is
? At least 1-3 years' experience in a similar role within an SME.
? Confident user of financial systems eg Xero, Sage.
? Experience with Project Management software (Smartsheet or similar) will be advantageous
? Experience in a manufacturing, or similar industry is necessary
? Advanced Microsoft excel skills (pivot tables, advanced formulas etc).
? Team player with good communication skills.
? A self-motivated and practical approach to problem-solving along with attention to detail is essential.
? Enduring and flexible character, with ability to adapt quickly in an extremely fast-paced environment.
