About our Team

Our Information Security and Data Protection team acts as the center of gravity for the cybersecurity practice at Elsevier. We safeguard the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the Company\xe2\x80\x99s information resources, Consumer Data, and Technology infrastructure. We carry business accountability and engage with business stakeholders to enable them to manage their risk.

About the Role

You will report to the Director of Vulnerability Management and Security Assurance. This role requires an individual with proven hands-on experience in developing and leading vulnerability management and security assurance programs. You will be responsible for leading both the SA and VM team. You will establish a vulnerability management and security assurance program that works in alignment with the overarching cyber security program for Elsevier.

Responsibilities

Developing and executing a comprehensive VM and SA strategy, in alignment with industry best practice and regulatory requirements

Implementing a \xe2\x80\x98crawl-walk-run\' road-map and lead an enterprise-level vulnerability management and security assurance program with demonstrated capability maturity

Remaining informed about the latest emerging cyber threats, vulnerabilities and industry trends to address potential business risks

Leading communication and upwards reporting program initiatives to leadership

Establishing a documented Security Assurance & Vulnerability Management program with reporting metrics

Collaborating with peers and colleagues throughout the organization; Work closely with BISOs and security champions

Managing global teams across multiple locations including work assignment, tracking, career development and mentoring

Interviewing, hiring, training and appraising employees; planning, assigning, and directing work

Requirements

Experience leading and implementing a formally documented enterprise-level vulnerability management and security assurance programs across multiple business units

Demonstrate business acumen combined with advanced written and verbal skills for executive and senior management communications

Able to influence and collaborate, setting, communicating, implementing, and achieving business objectives and goals through the direct management of others

Experience putting appropriate controls in place across the global Technology organization to enable Elsevier\'s successful compliance with NIST and ISO

Experience in minimizing a system\xe2\x80\x99s attack surface to reduce cyber-risk with the adequate configuration of security controls in place

Experience in validating a system\xe2\x80\x99s security posture, aligning the vulnerability management road-map and developing a Plan for Vulnerability Management

Demonstrate understanding of networking, web-based content delivery platforms and personal computing filesystem operation, architecture, patching and security

Able to problem solve, experienced in leading teams in identifying, researching, and coordinating to effectively troubleshoot complex project issues
