As Managing Director, you will:Shape and deliver the long-term strategy for QACE
Drive business development, innovation, and income diversification
Lead and inspire a committed team
Represent QACE as a powerful advocate for our mission
Oversee operations and ensure financial sustainability
Engage with stakeholders across Birmingham, the West Midlands, and beyond
You will report to the QACE Board of Trustees and work closely with the charity's leadership to ensure that all profits enhance the experiences and opportunities for the students and clients we serve.
We're looking for someone who:
Holds a degree in a relevant field (Business, Management, or similar)
Has proven senior leadership experience, ideally within business, charity, or social enterprise sectors
Demonstrates strong commercial acumen and a track record of business growth
Is an inspiring leader, strategic thinker, and compassionate advocate
Embraces innovation and data-driven decision-making
Has a deep commitment to inclusivity and empowering disabled individuals

Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership:
Redevelop and implement the long-term strategy of the QACE, aligning with its mission, values and guiding principles. Translating QACE strategy into business plans and targets.
Business Development:
Own the responsibility of business growth by directly engaging with new prospects, building and delivering a sales pipeline showing significant year on year growth.
Innovation and Enterprise:
Identify new opportunities for growth, including social enterprises and to diversify revenue streams and expand the impact of QACE.
Operational Oversight:
Oversee operational, financial, and Enterprise activities to ensure effective and sustainable delivery of current and new services.
Advocacy and Stakeholder Engagement:
Represent QACE as a spokesperson and outward face of the QACE and build relationships with stakeholders, including customers, clients, and the regional community.
Team Leadership and Management:
Inspire, support, and develop the QACE team, fostering a positive and inclusive workplace culture.
Governance and Compliance:
Ensure adherence to all legal, financial, and regulatory obligations, working closely with the QACE Board of Trustees and service managers.

Queen Alexandra Charity (QAC) provides education, residential support, community services and enterprises in support of young adults with learning difficulties and disabilities.
Education is provided through a national residential College that supports a diverse range of student/client abilities and needs. Our College provides education, training, routes to independent living and employment through an innovative, holistic approach to learning and support. It offers a vibrant, varied and fun educational experience for both residential and day students. Our curriculum aims to maximise adult life, independence and work opportunities for all students. Class sizes are small and support levels high.
We have educational and learning sites based in Birmingham, one of Europe's most welcoming and vibrant cities, with a rich and diverse culture. Our main site is based in Harborne, a pleasant leafy Birmingham suburb, on a friendly and green 8-acre campus with excellent facilities and resources. In addition we also have Pinewood Campus which is located on a business park and is designated to employment progression.
Clients within our Residential Services programme still require support and the aim is to deliver a service that provides them with the means to live independently/semi independently into the future. Many clients are either in education, voluntary work or paid employment not linked to QAC directly.
Our Community Services based at our Umberslade Campus in Stirchley include a supporter worker service, women's group, men's group, LGBTQ plus group, Saturday Socials, The Night Owl Experience (disability friendly night club visit in Birmingham City Centre).
All students, clients and staff are supported within safe and well-resourced environments.
