We are seeking a Manual Operator/Laborer to join our production team. This hands-on role involves operating machinery, finishing work across multiple production areas, carrying out collections and deliveries and working within the pack and dispatch area when required. The successful candidate will work collaboratively within the team and must hold a valid forklift license and driver's license, as driving the company vehicle and operating the forklift truck are regular requirements of this position.
Responsibilities
Broaching Operations
Operate broaching machines to manufacture components
Obtain first-off approval before commencing production runs
Conduct in-process sample inspections according to quality standards
Perform 100% visual inspection of all production output
Document inspection results and report any non-conformances
De-Burring and Finishing
Remove all burrs from machined components using hand and power tools
Polish splines to specified finish requirements
Identify components requiring rectification work prior to customer shipment
Ensure all components meet visual quality standards
Tapping Operations
Tap threads into various components using manual and powered equipment
Remove broken taps and drills from components without causing further damage
Inspect threaded components for quality and accuracy
Packing and Dispatch
Wrap components according to packaging specifications
Pack finished goods securely for shipment
Produce accurate packing lists and shipping documentation
Prepare orders for collection or delivery
Quality and Safety Requirements
Adhere to all Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) instructions at all times
Use all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as defined for each task area
Follow established procedures to produce quality components within specified timeframes
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working area throughout the shift
Report safety hazards or concerns immediately to your supervisor
Communication and Continuous Improvement
Communicate effectively with team members and management
Seek advice or support before commencing work if uncertain about any procedure
Provide feedback on suggested process improvements to optimise efficiency and quality
Participate in team meetings and training sessions as required
Key Performance Expectations
Produce components that meet quality specifications with minimal rework
Complete work assignments within production schedule requirements
Maintain consistent attention to detail across all activities
Demonstrate flexibility to move between different work areas as needed
Preferred Experience, Education, and Certifications:
Valid forklift operator license (Although training can be provided)
Valid driver's license
Previous manufacturing or production experience preferred (Training can be provided)
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and work instructions (Training can be provided)
Basic math skills for measurements and calculations
Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity
Ability to stand for extended periods
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality

Use of hand tools, power tools, and machinery
PPE required including safety glasses, steel-toed boots, and hearing protection
Good mobility to ensure safe loading and unloading of machine components using relevant manual handling techniques and equipment
