Key Responsibilities
Responsibilities

  • Process Ownership:
  • Develop, validate, and maintain robust manufacturing processes for Gleason gear cutting, lapping, and inspection within aerospace actuation assemblies.
  • Programming & Tooling:
  • Create and optimize CNC programs for Gleason Phoenix and other gear-cutting machines.
  • Select and manage cutting tools, fixtures, and gauges for precision gear manufacturing.
  • Apply best practices for spiral bevel and hypoid gear machining.
  • Process Improvement:
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, and Root Cause Analysis methodologies.
  • Identify and eliminate sources of process variation and waste.
  • Quality & Compliance:
  • Ensure processes meet AS9100, NADCAP, and customer-specific aerospace quality standards.
  • Support FAI (First Article Inspection) and PPAP submissions.
  • Collaborate with Quality Engineering to resolve non-conformances and implement corrective actions.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:
  • Work closely with Design Engineering, Production, and Supply Chain to ensure manufacturability and cost-effectiveness.
  • Support new product introduction (NPI) and production readiness reviews (PRRs).
  • Equipment & Maintenance:
  • Provide technical support for Gleason machines, ensuring optimal performance and preventive maintenance.
  • Coordinate with maintenance teams for equipment troubleshooting and calibration

Work Experience
Required Qualifications & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in precision gear manufacturing, preferably in aerospace or high-integrity industries.
  • Demonstrated hands-on expertise with Gleason gear cutting, grinding, and inspection equipment (e.g., Phoenix 200GH, 600HC, 800GMS).
  • Proficient in CNC programming (e.g., Siemens, Fanuc, or similar controls).
  • Strong understanding of GD&T, gear metrology, and aerospace tolerancing standards.
  • Working knowledge of CAD/CAM software (e.g., CATIA, NX, or Mastercam) and CMM inspection tools.
  • Familiarity with LEAN manufacturing, PFMEA, control plans, and process validation techniques.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with actuation system components such as gearboxes, actuators, and drive mechanisms.
  • Prior involvement in AS9102 documentation and NADCAP audits.
  • Certified Six Sigma Green Belt or LEAN Practitioner.
  • Knowledge of Additive Manufacturing or Advanced Machining Techniques in aerospace applications.
