Manufacturing Engineer
Business Unit: Defence
Reports to: Head of Manufacturing Engineering
Hours: 37.5/week, Monday-Friday - 1 day WFH
Chose your own working hours with core being 9am-2:30pm
Location: Hudderfield.
Summary:
The Manufacturing Engineer will support production and assembly operations, working under the Head of Manufacturing Engineering. The role involves technical problem-solving, process development, and collaboration across departments to ensure product quality and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide technical guidance to manufacturing and assembly teams.
Act as a liaison between engineering and shop floor teams.
Review component manufacturability and advise on tooling/machine capability.
Support design reviews and provide feedback on production feasibility.
Conduct PFMEAs and assist in process development.
Interpret and create manufacturing drawings.
Ensure processes meet Quality Assurance standards.
Lead continuous improvement (CI) initiatives.
Design custom tooling and ensure Machinery Safety compliance.
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders (e.g. design, quality, supply chain).
Create work orders and complete technical documentation.
Qualifications
Minimum: Relevant diploma with experience.
Preferred: Degree in Engineering or related field.
Skills & Experience
Technical:
Knowledge of rotating components manufacturing (turning, milling, boring)
Understanding of assembly processes
CNC programming and GD&T expertise
Proficient in 2D/3D CAD and SAP (for manufacturing)
Ability to read and generate engineering drawings
