Location : Southport, United Kingdom Role overview

Main Purpose

We are looking for a Manufacturing Engineer with a focus on Electrical/Electronic manufacturing, who will play a critical role in our production process. You will be responsible for optimizing manufacturing methods, improving productivity, and maintaining quality standards. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including design, production, and quality control, to ensure seamless manufacturing operations.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate and improve existing manufacturing processes to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Develop and implement new production methods and equipment to meet changing requirements.
  • Collaborate with the design team to provide input on manufacturability and identify potential improvements.
  • Conduct time studies, root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions to reduce production bottlenecks.
  • Design and implement work instructions, standard operating procedures, and training materials for assembly and testing processes.
  • Conduct regular process audits to identify opportunities for continuous improvement and ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Support the transition of new products from design to production, ensuring smooth production ramp-up.
Essential criteria:
  • Qualified to HNC / HND level in Mechanical / Electrical / Electronics Engineering (or equivalent)
  • Previous experience working within a manufacturing environment, ideally working with electronic assembly/manufacturing or LED products and technologies.
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Strong communication, project management and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge and application of process improvement and lean manufacturing.
Desirable criteria:
  • Basic knowledge of optical testing
  • A qualification in 6 sigma (Statistical analysis, statistical process control)
  • Safety critical industry / railway experience
