The Manufacturing Engineer will support analogue and digital product lines, providing technical expertise across manufacturing processes, new product introductions, quality investigations, and continuous improvement initiatives. The role requires close collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure efficient, high-quality, and cost-effective manufacturing solutions.
What your main taks look like:

  • Support analogue and digital product lines, including digital and analogue metering systems, current transformers, protector trip relays, analogue instruments, kWh meters, transducers, shunts, and associated products.
  • Assist with New Product Introduction (NPI) projects, ensuring manufacturability, process readiness, and smooth production ramp-up.
  • Provide technical advice and problem-solving support to Product Management, Quality, the Management Team, and the wider Technical Community.
  • Perform product, process, and equipment fault analysis; evaluate data to identify root causes and implement effective corrective actions.
  • Identify and deliver innovative process improvements that increase efficiency, quality, and cost effectiveness.
  • Identify, justify, and manage manufacturing projects, including the calculation of cost savings and business benefits.
  • Develop and maintain production process documentation, including workflow diagrams, routing charts, floor layouts, and material handling instructions.
  • Support quality investigations by applying a strong understanding of production processes and quality systems.
  • Use statistical and process data to monitor, maintain, and improve process capability, product quality, and equipment reliability.
  • Liaise with suppliers to define specifications and develop bespoke manufacturing equipment and tooling solutions.
Your ideal background:
  • Nationally recognised technical qualification in Electrical or Electronic Engineering, or equivalent.
  • 3-5 years' experience working in a manufacturing environment, preferably as a Manufacturing Engineer or Senior Manufacturing Technician.
  • Experience within PCB manufacturing or electronic assembly, including products utilising printed circuit boards.
  • Solid understanding of materials, manufacturing processes, quality control, and cost drivers, with the ability to optimise production efficiency and product quality.
  • Practical knowledge of the application of engineering science and technology, including principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment used in the design and manufacture of products.
  • Experience working with manufacturing equipment, computer systems, and control panels, including equipment setup, configuration, and management of process and production data.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude, with knowledge of machinery, tools, their design, use, maintenance, and repair.
  • Working knowledge of UK Environmental, Health & Safety (EH&S) regulations and their application within a manufacturing environment.
  • Awareness and practical understanding of Continuous Improvement principles, including Lean manufacturing tools and methodologies.
  • Ability to analyse data using mathematical and statistical tools to solve engineering problems and support quality, reliability, and process capability.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel; experience using CAD and 3D modelling tools.
  • Surface Mount Technology (SMT) training or certification is desirable.
