Job Description

Job Summary



The Production Engineer is responsible for providing technical support to manufacturing and engineering operations, with a primary focus on new product introduction (NPI), dimensional control, process improvement, and scrap reduction. This role is essential to achieving on-time delivery, quality standards, and driving operational efficiency.

(The employee will willingly undertake, upon request, any other task they are able to perform. Elements of the role may vary as new technology, procedures and equipment are introduced.)

Duties



New Product Introduction (NPI):



Lead and participate in planning and scheduling of NPI engineering activities. Manage assigned new projects and ensure delivery against timeline and cost targets. Utilise project management tools effectively and maintain documentation. Actively participate in weekly project meetings and track project risks and mitigations. Support monthly sales targets by ensuring timely project execution.

Dimensional Compliance / Right First Time:



Implement and refine dimensional control processes using best-in-class techniques. Populate and analyse RFT (Right First Time) data to identify trends and improvements. Develop gauging plans and measurement tools to ensure product conformity. Conduct root cause analysis and implement preventative actions for defects. Document and share lessons learned for continuous improvement.

Scrap Reduction and Quality Control:



Identify high-scrap products and assist re-engineer processes to reduce waste. Liaise with Quality to address findings from scrap review meetings. Collaborate with the Design for Manufacture (DFM) cell to optimise feeding, moulding, and casting processes. Support FMEA activities and quality improvement initiatives.

Process and System Support:



Identify tooling and measurement requirements for each process. Maintain engineering data and version control for process documentation.

Health and Safety:



Ensure compliance with all site-specific risk assessments, safety policies, and PPE usage. Report near misses and safety concerns promptly. Contribute to a safe working environment by ensuring machinery and tools are used appropriately.

The successful candidate will be a proactive and technically skilled engineer who thrives in a dynamic manufacturing environment. A strong communicator and problem-solver, they will bring hands-on experience in supporting and improving complex manufacturing processes, ideally within aerospace, defence, or precision engineering industries.

Essential Skills & Attributes



Proven ability to support manufacturing operations and implement process improvements. Strong understanding of dimensional control and right-first time (RFT) practices. Ability to analyse technical problems and apply root cause analysis tools effectively. Confident working cross-functionally with Production, Quality, Planning, and Design. Good interpersonal and communication skills to engage colleagues at all levels. Detail-oriented, organised, and capable of managing multiple priorities. A self-starter with a continuous improvement mindset. NVQ Level 3 - Engineering or Tine Served Engineer Ideally Experienced in a Manufacturing Engineering role ideally from a Metrology background Experience in NPI and process control within precision engineering or aerospace sectors Strong knowledge of dimensional compliance and measurement techniques Strong problem-solving and communication skills Aerospace or Defence industry experience Experience with continuous improvement and lean manufacturing Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems and engineering documentation control

Package



Salary: 36,000- 42,000 DOE Pension: 5% min personal contribution, Company contribution of 3% Annual Leave: 25 days plus 8 BH Pro-rata Life Insurance: 2 x annual salary Death in Service Monday to Thursday, 0800-1630, Friday 0800-1330 Wrexham
