Manufacturing & Engineering Manager
to join our leadership team.
The Role
This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll take full responsibility for managing and controlling all aspects of the manufacturing process. You'll ensure the effective use of people, materials, equipment, and systems to deliver manufacturing plans and performance targets.
As the driving force behind our Manufacturing and Engineering teams, you'll provide both technical expertise and strategic direction - keeping operations running smoothly today, while shaping the factory for long-term success. You'll also lead on maintenance, reliability, and continuous improvement of machinery and facilities, ensuring the highest standards of quality, safety, and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Lead daily manufacturing operations, ensuring plans are delivered and activities accurately recorded in the ERP system
Monitor and report on performance, addressing downtime and other issues swiftly
Motivate, mentor, and develop team members, ensuring they have the skills and support to succeed
Uphold health, safety, and quality standards across all manufacturing areas
Drive engineering innovation, continuous improvement, and best practices across manufacturing, facilities, and maintenance
Oversee tool room operations, service contracts, and supplier relationships
Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical faults to minimise downtime
Support business strategy, product development projects, and capital investment planning.
About You
You'll be a proactive and skilled engineering leader with a strong mechanical background and hands-on approach. You'll combine technical know-how with people management skills, able to motivate teams, solve problems quickly, and implement improvements that make a lasting impact.
Essential skills and attributes include:
Strong mechanical engineering background with hands-on troubleshooting and maintenance experience
Ability to operate and maintain a variety of factory machinery, including CNC equipment
Practical knowledge of facilities management and building maintenance
Strong communication, organisational, and team leadership skills
High standards of planning, prioritisation, and delivery.
Desirable:
Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement tools
CAD/CAM knowledge and experience managing engineering projects
Membership of a relevant professional body.
Qualifications:
HNC/HND or Degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Production Engineering (or equivalent).
What We Offer
Competitive starting salary of 60,000 depending on experience
Working Hours: Monday - Thursday 8:00am-5:15pm, Friday 8:00am-4:15pm (41.5 hours per week)
28 days holiday plus bank holidays
Death in service 4 x annual salary
Employer pension contribution 7%
