Overview


The Manufacturing Excellence Manager is responsible for leading and optimising manufacturing processes, team performance, and production outcomes across the facility. This leadership role ensures the delivery of strategic goals related to operational efficiency, workforce planning, quality standards, and budget adherence. The role includes cross-functional collaboration to ensure continuous improvement in all aspects of manufacturing operations.

Responsibilities



To create and deploy a Rittal Production System (RPS) to be adopted across all shifts and departments. To support, track and drive budget commitments at site (via initiative trackers). Support the Manufacturing Manager in driving KPI improvements. Specific project work associated with manufacturing operations. Driving performance improvement through OEE and wastage reduction. For all matters of continuous improvement and operational excellence lead, mentor, and manage all operational teams. Driving Quality Improvement and Efficiency by continually increasing standards by PDCA iteration. Appropriate implementation of Lean and Good/Best Practice Manufacturing techniques such as 6S, problem solving, root cause analysis, herring bone diagrams, quality circles etc. Reducing wastage through the application of process mapping and waste elimination techniques. Implementing a robust performance measurement system delivering bottom line cost reduction. Create a framework that designated sites can use to drive operational improvements. To influence others to follow the self-audit methodology using a set structure. Creating a network of improvement champions who operate in a similar fashion and share best practice. To facilitate the broader improvement journey via best practice workshop / community of practice. Set up and maintain a system for monitoring progress of continuous improvement projects. Measuring the financial and other benefits achieved. Drive use of the Manufacturing Information System (MIS) for performance monitoring and Continuous Improvement. Create a pipeline of improvement projects and opportunities. Seek best practice from other sites and other external sources. Identify opportunities requiring capital investment, working with site teams to create a business case. Foster a high-performance culture with strong engagement, accountability, and continuous improvement. Help prioritise and coordinate the capital plans across the sites. To lead identified change management programmes, prioritising multiple projects at any one time.

Experience



Manufacturing Professional - degree calibre (desirable) or equivalent experience Leadership qualification L5 (desirable) Experienced Manufacturing Professional - min 5 years Proven experience in Continuous Improvement techniques and team development (Lean Six sigma green belt or willing to train up to this standard) Strong leadership experience as a mid to senior level leader ideally in a Manufacturing environment Must have necessary gravitas to challenge upper level for accountability of process deployment Manufacturing Experience (production and assembly) Strong knowledge of quality systems, lean manufacturing, and budget management
