Role Purpose



The Manufacturing & Lab Technician supports end-to-end production and quality control activities within Hexigone Inhibitors Ltd. The role combines hands-on manufacturing operations with laboratory-based quality assurance (QA/QC) activities to ensure that all products are produced safely, efficiently, and to required quality standards. The postholder will be responsible for maintaining equipment, executing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), supporting continuous improvement, and maintaining exceptional standards of housekeeping, safety, and documentation compliance.

This role is central to supporting Hexigone's operational excellence, ensuring consistent production output, quality control accuracy, and compliance with internal and statutory requirements.

Key Responsibilities



A. Manufacturing / Process Technician Duties



Operate, monitor, and maintain manufacturing machinery in accordance with SOPs and safety requirements. Manufacture products (including AX1 and other materials) to required quality and traceability standards. Maintain equipment and production assets to the required standards, including routine checks, inspections, and basic maintenance tasks. Record production data including stock levels, batch numbers, product weights, samples, and materials usage. Maintain accurate records for KPI reporting, production metrics, and operational dashboards. Ensure full compliance with all Health & Safety requirements, including consistent use of PPE/RPE and adherence to all process-specific SOPs. Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment in accordance with 5S workplace organisation principles. Operate the Forklift Truck safely within the manufacturing area, completing daily checks and ensuring compliance with internal transport controls. Perform basic QA tests such as moisture analysis and inspection of produced batches. Conduct weekly "deep cleaning" activities across the manufacturing area as part of routine hygiene and safety controls. Report any Health & Safety concerns, near misses, accidents, or incidents promptly. Perform maintenance support tasks including FLT inspections, cleaning of filters, checking oil levels, and assisting with scheduled maintenance activities.

QC Laboratory / Lab Technician Duties



Ensure all manufactured materials meet required quality standards before release or dispatch. Conduct QC testing across multiple paint systems to validate product performance. Contribute to KPI development through accurate QC data collection and reporting. Operate, calibrate, and maintain salt spray test cabinets, ensuring equipment readiness and accurate test conditions. Perform moisture analysis and other standard QC tests on manufactured products. Conduct packing, measuring, and labelling of product samples for customer testing or internal evaluation. Demonstrate competence in all laboratory activities through formal SOP assessment and sign-off. Blend AX1 with paint samples and apply coatings to salt spray panels using spray gun or brush as required. Monitor salt spray exposure panels, recording results, photographing panels, and maintaining test logs at prescribed intervals across 1000-hour test cycles. Maintain high standards of laboratory cleanliness, organisation, and H&S compliance always.

Person Specification



Essential Skills & Experience



Experience within a manufacturing, chemical, coatings, or QC laboratory environment. Ability to follow SOPs, production instructions, and quality documentation accurately. Strong attention to detail and ability to produce accurate written records. Competence in operating manufacturing equipment or laboratory instrumentation. Good understanding of H&S requirements, including safe chemical handling and PPE/RPE use. Ability to work both independently and as part of a small, multi-functional team. Willingness to undertake manual handling tasks and physical work in a manufacturing environment. IT-literate with ability to record data, complete logs, and maintain digital records.

Desirable Skills & Experience



FLT licence (Counterbalance). Experience in performing QC tests such as moisture analysis or paint/coatings evaluation. Previous experience with salt spray corrosion testing. Exposure to ISO 9001 or ISO 45001 working environments. Experience using 5S, lean methods, or continuous improvement tools. Knowledge of paint formulation, chemical blending, or coatings application. Conversant of ISO standards 9001 & 45001

Working Environment



The role involves working across two operational areas:

Manufacturing Facility:

Production machinery, chemical handling, physical activity, use of PPE/RPE, noise, and manual handling.

Quality Control Laboratory:

Testing equipment, samples handling, controlled working practices, and documentation accuracy.
Training will be provided across all required tasks, including SOP sign-off, FLT operations (if applicable), laboratory equipment use, and Health & Safety procedures.

Development & Progression



Opportunity to progress to Senior Technician or Shift Lead roles. Training provided in laboratory analytical methods, manufacturing systems, and technical capability development. Participation in continuous improvement projects and cross-functional development initiatives.
