Manufacturing Operations Manager

Newmarket, ENG, GB, United Kingdom

Job Description

Company Description

At Display Champ, we believe every sporting moment deserves to be celebrated. A Hole In One, a first goal, a debut wicket, a personal best, a hard-earned medal -- these moments might not make the news, but they mean everything to the people who lived them.

We design and build premium, handcrafted display solutions that honour these achievements with pride, precision and purpose. Whether it is golf, football, cricket, tennis or any sport where memories matter, our mission stays the same. Every achievement deserves to be seen, remembered and celebrated.

This is a rare opportunity to join a fast-scaling British brand built on craftsmanship, integrity and a deep respect for the stories that define sport.

Role Overview

The Manufacturing Operations Manager will take ownership of day-to-day production, fulfilment, and logistics at Display Champ's Newmarket HQ. This is not a desk job. You'll spend time on the floor, operating and maintaining UV printers (Mimaki and Refinecolor), the LaserScript Laser Cutter, and overseeing every process from cutting and engraving to packing and dispatch.

You'll also lead and develop the production team -- teaching, troubleshooting, improving workflows, and embedding a culture of precision, efficiency, and teamwork across the business. This role sits at the heart of Display Champ's operations and is vital to scaling the business sustainably and to our standards of excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Production & Workflow Management

Operate and oversee Mimaki and Refinecolor UV printers using RasterLink and Honsoft software, ensuring colour accuracy and print quality. Run and maintain the LaserScript Laser Cutter, setting parameters and performing minor repairs when required. Lead and assist with day-to-day production -- cutting, engraving, assembling, and finishing products to Display Champ's exacting standards. Balance hands-on production work with team leadership and workflow planning. Create efficient, repeatable processes that deliver consistent quality and timely fulfilment.

Leadership & Team Development

Lead by example -- work alongside your team, teach, mentor, and build capability through knowledge-sharing. Encourage a "no job too small" mindset across all roles. Maintain high morale and motivate the team to achieve shared goals. Champion Display Champ's values: pride in the work, respect for the craft, and a culture of teamwork and accountability.

Technical Maintenance & Improvement

Manage and perform regular maintenance on all machinery, including UV printers and laser cutters. Troubleshoot mechanical or software issues to minimise downtime. Maintain service logs, order replacement parts, and coordinate with engineers when needed. Continuously improve machine performance, output, and reliability.

Quality Control & Fulfilment

Ensure every product meets Display Champ's museum-grade quality standards before dispatch. Oversee order fulfilment using ShipStation, managing courier workflows with Royal Mail and DHL. Maintain efficient stock control, packaging, and dispatch processes. Monitor metrics and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce waste.

Safety & Organisation

Uphold a safe, tidy, and organised workshop. Ensure compliance with PUWER, COSHH, and all H&S requirements. Promote sustainable practices across materials, packaging, and waste reduction.

About You

Essential

Proven experience in production or manufacturing leadership. Hands-on experience with UV printers and RasterLink software. Skilled in operating and maintaining a Laser Cutter. Strong background in technical engineering and machine maintenance. Confident leading from the front -- willing to roll up your sleeves and get involved in any task. Excellent organisational, problem-solving, and communication skills. A positive, collaborative attitude with no ego -- just a genuine passion for doing great work and helping others do the same.

Desirable

Familiarity with ShipStation and courier systems (Royal Mail and DHL). Experience with Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and LightBurn. Understanding of Lean principles or continuous improvement practices. A background or passion in sport, craftsmanship, or design.

What We Offer

40,000-45,000 salary depending on experience. The chance to help shape and lead the next phase of a fast-scaling British brand. Supportive, collaborative environment with real career growth potential. A team that values precision, creativity, and collective pride in what we make.

How to Apply

If you're a hands-on leader who takes pride in your work, thrives in fast-moving environments, and wants to help shape a premium British manufacturing brand, we'd love to hear from you.
