Manufacturing Workshop Technician

Switch To Wood is a successful small company, established for over 30 years, which manufactures high-end bespoke wooden switches and sockets.

As a result of our continued growth, we are seeking a workshop technician to assist with production.

Main Duties

Timber preparation, machine setting and operation, milling, sanding and finishing to a high specification and consistent level of accuracy.

Other duties

will include cleaning, maintaining and basic servicing of machinery after use, helping with other tasks within the manufacturing process, developing an understanding of stock control and generally supporting the running of the workshop as required. The candidate will need to undertake heavy tasks such as unloading timber deliveries and be able to work on their feet all day. A good level of fitness is needed.

Training will be given on the job, however experience with woodworking machinery and/or a practical engineering background would be preferable. We are looking for a long-term commitment which will be rewarded with an escalating salary and bonus scheme.

Hours 08.00 to 17.00 Monday to Friday

Rural location, own transport essential.

Skills Required

Some knowledge of woodworking and/or engineering machinery

Maths skills, particularly measure

Sound practical skills along with consistent attention to detail

Good communication skills

Basic computer experience

Basic Autocad drawing or similar

Some electrical knowledge

Benefits

22,000 - 26,000 depending on age and skills, starting salary

20 days holiday per annum plus bank holidays .

There will be a 6 month probationary period.
