Job Summary

We have a rare and exciting opportunity for an experienced Marine Engineer to join our growing family-run marine company. Based at our boatshed in Shamrock Quay, Southampton.

As a Marine Engineer with Willett Built, you will play a crucial role in the team; working closely with the Operations Director, Shipwrights, Apprentices and Office Team to ensure our projects are completed to the highest possible standard.

Your responsibilities will encompass a wide scope of work, including full and partial re-fits, repairs, system upgrades, sea trials, general maintenance and routine services on a multitude of vessels - no two days are the same!

We are looking for an individual who understands and values the importance of teamwork, the desire to learn and teach others new skills.

This challenging and varied role would ideally suit someone with previous experience looking for the next step in their career.

Please note a driving licence is required for this position.

Key responsibilities and skills:

Methodical, organised with the ability to effectively plan and prioritise workload Problem solving and troubleshooting skills Experience servicing diesel and petrol engines Self-confidence and the ability to work independently as well as in a team Meticulous attention to detail Knowledge of marineengineering principles, practices, safety regulations and standards Friendly and approachable demeanour with excellent communication skills at all levels Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics Understands the importance of teamwork and actively contributing to a positive team environment Willingness to learn, grow, and contribute to completing projects by "rolling up their sleeves" and assist in project completion Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems
