The Marine Engineer is responsible for the operation, maintenance, and repair of shipboard machinery and mechanical systems to ensure the safe and efficient operation of marine vessels. This role supports propulsion systems, power generation, auxiliary equipment, and compliance with maritime safety and environmental regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Operate, monitor, and maintain marine engines, propulsion systems, and auxiliary machinery
Perform routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs on mechanical and electrical systems
Diagnose and troubleshoot machinery malfunctions and implement corrective actions
Maintain maintenance records as required, and assist with technical reports
Ensure compliance with international maritime regulations (IMO, SOLAS, MARPOL) and company policies
Operate all Machinery and Undertake inspections of running machinery during Sea Trials.
Manage fuel, lubrication, and correct spare parts are fitted
Assist in surveys, and inspections
Implement safety procedures and respond to emergencies such as machinery failure or fire whilst operating machinery at sea (Sea Trials).
Assist other trades as required.
Working in the Dockyard and provide waterfront support to all vessels maintained by UKDOCKS.
Qualifications & Requirements
Marine Engineering Qualifications
Strong knowledge of diesel engines, generators, pumps, boilers, and control systems
Ability to read technical drawings and manuals
Good problem-solving and decision-making skills
Ability to work on your own.
Driving License.
Be able to pass a DBS check to gain Dockyard Pass.

Holiday
25 days. Initially 23 days and earn one extra day every two years up to 25 days. These days can be bought during the first 4 years and is paid back over the year.
