Role Overview
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Upholsterer to join our production team. This role is integral to the creation of high-end interior and exterior soft furnishings, ensuring every boat meets our exacting standards of luxury and comfort.
You will be responsible for upholstering a variety of components including seating, panels, and custom trims, using and sourcing marine-grade materials and techniques. You will also work closely with our in-house cover manufacturer, gaining exposure to general cover making skills and contributing to the development of bespoke solutions for our boats.
Key Responsibilities
Upholster interior and exterior yacht components to a luxury standard.
Interpret design specifications and technical drawings accurately.
Select and work with a variety of marine-grade fabrics, foams, and finishes.
Collaborate with the cover manufacturing team to develop and refine trimming techniques.
Maintain high levels of craftsmanship, consistency, and attention to detail.
Ensure all work complies with safety and quality standards.
Assist in prototyping and development of new upholstery solutions.
Maintain tools, equipment, and workspace in excellent condition.
Skills & Experience
Proven experience in upholstery, ideally within marine, automotive, or luxury furniture sectors.
Strong understanding of materials and techniques used in marine environments.
Ability to work from technical drawings and templates.
Excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
A keen eye for detail and a commitment to quality.
Team-oriented with good communication skills.
Willingness to learn and develop marine trimming skills alongside our cover manufacturing team.

Note

Location
The usual place of work for this role is the South-West Shipyard, Falmouth.
Salary
A competitive and negotiable hourly rate dependent on experience.
