ROLE
1. To provide technical and pre-sales support for customer accounts; to work alongside sales & business development managers and act as their technical consultant to the customer.
2. To be responsible for both commercial and technical aspects of the product portfolio in order to provide support to the sales & accounts teams, as well as manufacturing and engineering as required in order to win and grow company sales.
3. Build relationships and liaise with key technology decision matters in key accounts to support architectural design & to ensure G&H participation & compliance for future technology projects
4. RFQ-to-Order support up to and including standard quotation(s) to proposal completion; RFQ evaluation; costing; engineering consultation; quote and proposal.
QUALIFICATIONS
Engineering (Optics/Electronics/ Mechanical/Software), Physics, Materials Science, Mathematics or Business Degree (or equivalent) would be preferred.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Technical Customer Liaison and Sales Enablement
Provide technical and pre-sales support for accounts; to work alongside sales & business development managers and act as their technical consultant to the customer

Work with product management to identify pricing and margin models for customer RFQs, bid and new products
Assist with development of formal sales plans and proposals for assigned opportunities
Own technical liaison & process for customer post-sales support items & issues
Liaise with product and program management to identify lead times to build
Provide unit forecasting data for customer orders or forecasts to product management & manufacturing
Develop & agree customer specifications for product request
Perform in-depth and high-level technical presentations and technology demonstrations for customers

SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Technical:
Although not essential, preferred to have knowledge of the following areas: linear crystal optics, classical optics, glass material properties, as well as experience in the manufacture of optical components such as lenses, windows, prisms and birefringent elements
Experience in technical design, project management and relationship management is essential.
Commercial:
Understanding of business decisions and experience of costing mechanisms
Experience required in negotiating commercial position with customer, preferably with knowledge of large account management
Knowledge of the RFQ process, and ability to respond to customer RFQ & RFI requests; provide technical sales support for bids
Experience of product development life cycles
Overall awareness of photonics industry, products and key applications
Personal:
Strong writing & language skills, with the capability of writing customer reports as required, as well as experience of presenting technical data.
Ability to manage varied workload, with strong personal organisation skills
