Market Regulation Manager
to help guide our response to industry code reform and ensure NGN remains a respected and influential voice in the energy sector.
As part of ourMarket Regulation & Complianceteam, you will be at the centre of regulatory transformation, from interpreting and influencing changes to the Uniform Network Code (UNC), Retail Energy Code (REC), and Smart Energy Code (SEC), to supporting hydrogen innovation projects like East Coast Hydrogen. This is a unique opportunity to shape the regulatory landscape and support NGN's strategic ambitions.
Our head office is in Leeds, however other working arrangements can be discussed at interview
Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities
Lead NGN's engagement with industry code reforms and regulatory change programmes, including Energy Code Reform
Represent NGN in industry forums and with stakeholders such as Ofgem, DESNZ, Xoserve, and NESO
Interpret complex regulatory frameworks (UNC, REC, SEC, Licences) and provide clear, actionable guidance to internal teams
Drive NGN-led code changes and assess the impact of external proposals on our operations and strategy
Support Energy Futures projects by advising on regulatory pathways and compliance requirements
Deliver timely, accurate responses to consultations and industry change proposals
Build strong relationships across the industry to ensure NGN remains a respected and influential voice
What we are looking for
Solid understanding of the regulatory environment NGN operates within
Knowledge of key industry codes and contracts (UNC, REC, SEC, Licences, Energy Act 2023)
Experience influencing senior stakeholders and delivering change at strategic or operational levels
Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate complex change into practical advice
Excellent communication skills and the ability to build relationships across departments and industry
Curiosity, adaptability, and a genuine passion for shaping the future of energy
Willingness to travel to industry meetings and stakeholder events
Qualifications & Requirements
Degree-level education (preferably in business, regulatory, energy or finance disciplines)
Proven experience in regulatory, legal or policy-related roles

per annum (DOE)

We don't generate or sell the gas, but we transport it to homes and businesses in our region through a vast network of underground pipes.
