The Opportunity

EDF Wholesale Market Services (WMS) is a core business line within the EDF UK Customers Business that is at the centre of helping Britain achieve Net Zero. It provides industry leading wholesale market services to

EDF\'s supply and generation business units and to third party energy asset owners. The team operates in a broad and diverse range of market segments including residential & business supply, nuclear, renewable & thermal generation and storage & flexible energy.

We are looking for a Market Specialist to join the Short-Term Trading team to ensure the continuous improvement of the Team\'s performance and its capability to take on & deliver new market services.

What you\'ll be doing

As the Market Specialist, you will act as the subject matter expert and point of contact within Short-Term Trading for new & emerging market services, determining whether they could provide value-adding opportunities for WMS.

Alongside the Market Consultant you will help to provide coaching & support to the Market Analysis & Shift Trading teams to help upskill and enable them to deliver against their gross margin targets. You will provide direction for the requirements and co-ordination of project delivery priorities, enabling the team to be recognised as market leading.

Working collaboratively with the Shift Trading Team Manager & Market Consultant, you will identify improvements, develop emerging requirements and act as an advocate for the Shift Trading Team in improvement projects with delivery partners across the wider business.

Who you are

We are looking for somebody with a strong understanding and in-depth knowledge of the energy industry to offer leadership and direction where necessary. You will have a good commercial aptitude with the ability to work closely with a variety of different stakeholders whilst challenging the status quo in a positive manner to benefit EDF.

You will have experience with short-term power and gas markets, managing order-flow from generation assets such as Batteries and Gas-Peaker\'s and managing long term price/volume exposure of combined generator and customer portfolio.
