Salary:

15,791.60 (actual), 31,583.75 (pro-rata FTE).

Professional Development:

Financial support to achieve CIM Diploma status is available.

About us



This is an exciting time to be working at the Bar Convent Living Heritage Centre. We have recently launched a new Exhibition with a world class artefact, generating national media coverage. As a result, the Centre now welcomes over 50,000 visitors a year, either as day visitors, or staying as residents in our award winning 22-bedroom guest house. Visitors enjoy the unique and peaceful ambience of the Centre's grade 1 & 2 listed buildings, complete with 18th C. Chapel, Shop, Cafe, Meetings facilities and beautiful 'secret' rear garden.

We seek a Marketing Assistant who will support the Marketing, PR and Volunteers Manager to continually raise awareness of the Bar Convent Heritage Centre. We are looking for someone who has experience of working on integrated marketing campaigns and has knowledge across the communication mix but particularly someone who has a natural flair for digital marketing with the potential to develop in this area.

The role will also include working with the collections team to develop new displays and school holiday activities as well as some simple design work to accompany campaigns and activities.

We are looking for an outgoing all-rounder with potential, who has a great attitude and a willingness to learn, with training and career support available for the right candidate.

They will have a 'can-do', flexible and friendly attitude and will be willing to assist with volunteers, occasionally support the Shop, or any reasonable request to keep the ship running!

The successful applicant will have strong communications skills, both written and verbal and confident IT skills. They will have an eye for a good social media story, knowing the kind of material which will catch the eye of audiences online.

They will be capable of working on their own but also enjoy being part of a friendly and dynamic small team.

They will have an appreciation of the history and unique character of the Bar Convent and be sensitive to the needs and culture of the resident community.

Responsibilities:



Your main responsibility will be the digital marketing including updating the websites, google analytics, social media, e-newsletters, online advertising, updating external listings websites, monitoring of online reviews, producing online content, increasing online presence.

You will also assist with:



Idea generating for marketing campaigns and activities to appeal to existing and new audiences.

Assisting with the production of print materials such as leaflets, posters and adverts

Assisting with writing press releases

Ensuring that external and internal print marketing material is kept up to date.

Creating content and proof reading.

Supplying basic creative materials using design programmes such as Canva.

Liaising with external stakeholders such as designers, printers, photographers etc.

Circulation and internal sign off of communications prior to publication.

To attend some press calls/private view events.

Support in the shop/exhibition admissions to cover absences.

Support the recruitment and induction of volunteers.

Essential



- Must hold relevant qualifications or equivalent work experience .

- Have a minimum of 1 year marketing experience.

- Excellent writing and spelling skills with attention to detail.

- Excellent understanding of social media applications with business experience of using them.

- Have an understanding of integrated marketing campaigns

- The ability to multi-task and deliver work to deadlines.

- The ability to use your own initiative.

- The ability to recognise a good story.

- Experience of sign off process.

- Can-do, flexible attitude.

- Friendly and outgoing personality.

Desirable



- Experience working within the heritage/tourism industry.

- Familiar with Wordpress websites.

- Familiar with Canva and/or other basic design applications.

- Familiar with Mailchimp.

- Familiar with digital analytics.

- Experience across marketing channels

- Experience of working with press
