About the Role


As Director of Marketing for Sage People, you will lead and scale a world-class marketing function that drives brand growth, demand generation, and pipeline performance.


Reporting into the Sage People leadership team, you will define and execute the go-to-market strategy, own the Ideal Customer Profile (ICP), and shape the overall positioning of Sage People in the market. This role requires a balance of strategic thinking and hands-on execution, with full accountability for marketing performance across brand awareness, pipeline creation, and ARR growth.




Location: Hybrid - 3 days per week from our London, Newcastle, or Winnersh office

Strategic Leadership;


- Sit on the Sage People leadership team, contributing to the overall business strategy and direction.


- Define, evolve, and refine the Ideal Customer Profile (ICP) and product positioning in collaboration with Product, Sales, and Customer Success teams.


- Shape the future structure, vision, and technology capabilities of the marketing team to support growth.




Team Management;


- Lead and inspire a multi-disciplinary marketing team spanning Product Marketing, Digital Marketing, Field Marketing, Campaigns, Content, and Events.


- Foster collaboration, accountability, and innovation across the team to deliver measurable outcomes.




Growth & Demand Generation;


- Own and execute the demand generation strategy across digital, performance, and field channels.


- Drive pipeline creation and acceleration in partnership with the Sales and Business Development teams.


- Develop high-impact, data-led campaigns that deliver tangible results in pipeline and ARR growth.




Brand & Communications;


- Elevate the Sage People brand through thought leadership, content marketing, and impactful storytelling.


- Oversee messaging and positioning to ensure clarity, consistency, and market differentiation.


- Champion a customer-centric approach to communication across all internal and external touchpoints.




Budget & Performance Management;


- Manage the marketing budget with fiscal discipline and alignment to the broader Sage governance model.


- Track and report on key performance indicators including brand metrics, pipeline contribution, and revenue impact.




Essential Skills & Experience;


- Proven experience leading or closely partnering with teams across demand generation, product marketing, brand, and go-to-market execution.


- Demonstrated success in driving pipeline growth and marketing performance within tech, SaaS, or B2B environments.


- Strategic thinker with the ability to translate vision into actionable marketing plans.


- Strong leadership presence and ability to influence across all levels of the organisation.


- Excellent communication skills and comfort working in a fast-paced, high-growth setting.


- Data-driven mindset with expertise in marketing analytics, performance tracking, and ROI measurement.
