Short summary

We have an exciting opportunity to join a creative team of science communicators at the Francis Crick Institute. We\'re looking for a proactive and experienced marketing manager to build the global reputation of the Crick and extend the reach of our brand. Using your excellent communication skills and strong interest in science, you will manage branded communications campaigns and activity aimed at engaging the biomedical research community, strategic partners and our philanthropic supporters.

The Communications and Public Engagement team includes around 30 staff working across a wide range of projects and activities encompassing education outreach in the local community, exhibitions, public engagement in science, media and public affairs, and digital and internal communications. This is a busy and responsive team that supports the operational effectiveness of the Institute as well as delivering its promise to \xe2\x80\x9cengage and inspire\xe2\x80\x9d the public in scientific research and its outputs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Developing and implementing a marketing strategy to raise the Crick\'s profile and reputation among key audiences.
  • Creating a programme of engaging marketing and communications activity, in support of a range of strategic initiatives, including:
  • Philanthropic engagement
  • Commercial partnerships
  • Translation of discoveries
  • Scientific recruitment
  • Research events
  • Strategic partnerships
  • Take a leading role in managing communications for the Crick\'s multi-million-pound philanthropy campaign, coordinating activity and having oversight of content.
  • Working across communications channels to deliver targeted content in support of key announcements, events and schemes.
  • Gathering insight from strategic partners and in-house experts to inform communications and marketing plans.
  • Maintain to and champion our brand and house style, implementing consistent practices and delivering guidance to colleagues.
  • Project managing the delivery of branded publications and multi-media content.

The Francis Crick Institute is a biomedical discovery institute dedicated to understanding the fundamental biology underlying health and disease. Its work is helping to understand why disease develops and to translate discoveries into new ways to prevent, diagnose and treat illnesses such as cancer, heart disease, stroke, infections, and neurodegenerative diseases.

An independent organisation, its founding partners are the Medical Research Council (MRC), Cancer Research UK, Wellcome, UCL (University College London), Imperial College London and King\'s College London.
