The perfect candidate for the position:
An experienced marketing professional who thrives on supporting and dynamically leading a marketing team in a range of marketing techniques, developing marketing strategies and campaigns, driving sales for in house productions and working collaboratively with promotors to achieve optimum results for their shows. You will be dynamic creating and utilising a range of budgets ensuring maximum effect for both internal and external parties.
You will be confident across all the design packages with a great eye for detail, comfortable designing artwork and liaising with freelance designers on bigger projects as well as working across the social media packages.
Responsible for building connections in the local area you will be an excellent communicator, confident to promote the organisation at every opportunity. You will be eager to seek out and nurture new, more diverse audiences growing the engagement for Worcester Theatres, driving the brand forward.
Purpose of the role
:
1. To plan, develop, lead and implement marketing, communications and audience development strategies for Worcester Theatres, the Worcester Rep and visiting company productions to achieve and grow income targets, reach more people and raise the profile of the organisation.
2. To build the external reach of our venues, growing our brand both in person, via print and digitally to ensure our events and story are visible to the city, county and beyond.
3. To oversee the daily operation of the Worcester Theatre's Marketing department, including the line Management of Marketing Officers and Marketing Assistant.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
PROMOTION AND SALES
Take responsibility and overview for the design and print of the season brochure and other marketing material, working with external designers as required.
Working with the marketing team develop successful marketing campaigns to support the Worcester Rep and visiting theatre companies shows.
Take responsibility for managing and ensuring the success of campaigns, monitoring sales, targets and taking action when interventions are required to maximise sales.
Ensure regular local press exposure developing and updating press and media contacts in partnership with Officers & Assistant, building effective and proactive relationships.
To write compelling and accurate marketing copy to support the promotion of shows.
AUDIENCE DEVELOPMENT
Develop a marketing strategy concentrating on key audience development areas, to ensure new audiences, audience retention and diverse new groups are drawn to our venues.
Work with the CEO to manage strategic partnerships to help grow audience engagement.
Examine data of existing/past audiences and collate in appropriate ways to support your work and inform decisions.
Work closely with the box office team to monitor sales and to feedback into the audience development strategy.
Develop the Marketing team's use of social media channels to broaden the organisation's Audience Development.
Monitor the audience development campaign effectiveness, via data analysis from the ticketing system, reporting back to the CEO and Worcester Theatres's board.
Administration of direct mailings to ensure we encourage a 'brand investment' more than just a 'sales investment'.
Monitor and report on the success of campaigns, using statistics to inform and prepare for comparative shows and similar demographics of audiences.
PR
To support and participate in all promotional and press events.
To nurture and develop relationships with local businesses attending all local networking opportunities and optimising opportunities for furthering Worcester Theatre's reach into the community.
To proactively investigate and pursue promotional opportunities with local businesses and organisations.
Develop and implement strategic plans for brand development and external messaging.
Develop imaginative ways to sharpen and communicate our brand, intentions and values to the general public and to key stakeholders.
Create clear brand standards and tone and ensure these are consistently applied internally and externally across all communications and relationships.
Improve the visibility and profile of the organisation within the city and improve the awareness of the organisation as a charity across the communities it serves.
DIGITAL
Have a strong overview of the website and use it as a compelling tool for communicating with audiences, ensuring accuracy of information and maximisation of on-line sales at all times as required.
Ensure all marketing through digital communications, to include website, e-shots, online listings (internal and external) and social networking sites is of the most effective and highest quality.
To support the marketing team in the creation of social media content and artwork for campaign implementation as required.
Lead on show promotion day planning, script writing and video content direction for the Worcester Repertory Company shows in conjunction with the external video company.
Interact with audiences via comments and the messaging portals (some out of hours monitoring will be required)
Liaise with external companies for all filming requirements across the organisation.
Take photographs for dress rehearsals and social media content as required.
Careful handling of any customer data, ensuring all data activity is GDPR compliant.
PRINT & PUBLICATIONS
Overview of the design of key artwork - such as season brochures.
Design of inhouse artwork such as posters, leaflets, annual reports, supporting documents for fundraising applications, additional information leaflets - memberships, sponsorships, outreach activities etc.
Lead on the design of specialist material required for access performances.
Produce and design the in-house programmes for Rep shows and the annual pantomime - liaising with external designers as required.
GENERAL
Effectively manage the Marketing team to ensure all marketing material is delivered on time and on budget maximising resources.
Ensure a clear and effective liaison with all external promotors to ensure a satisfactory engagement with the marketing team for all parties.
Liaise with external agencies for placing of adverts and marketing support/campaign extensions/ print distribution.
Liaison with the Box office team to ensure the correct marketing campaigns and activities to ensure targeted approaches to drive sales.
Effective liaison with all departments internally.
To represent the marketing department as required at meetings and promotions.
Adherence to all Company Health & Safety at Work procedures, to minimise the risk of injury and accidents, personal and to others.
To attend appropriate training courses, in the interests of maintaining their awareness of current developments and trends.
Any other related duties and responsibilities as may reasonably, from time to time, be required by the CEO.

REQUIREMENTS
Essential Experience and skills:
Marketing and communications experience, ideally within an arts or cultural
Environment.
High standard of creative writing/ proof-reading skills/attention to detail.
A keen eye for design and ability to respond to the needs of the CEO in terms of design briefs.
Competent user of all social media platforms including placing sponsored Meta ads.
Availability to work scheduled evenings and weekends when required.
A team player with a high standard of communication skills, focussed on driving the organisation forward with commitment and dedication.
A proven track record of delivering measurable results in terms of increasing sales revenues and audience footfall.
Experience of media and stakeholder communication.
Experience in the production and distribution of print.
Confidence in managing and analysing the effectiveness of web presence and content and of developing and using E-marketing strategies and tools.
Demonstrably strong organisational and project management skills.
Effective management and motivation of people
IT literate, with experience of Microsoft Office 365, design packages (e.g. Canva and Photoshop) video and image editing software.
Experience of working with Spectrix and CRM systems, Google Analytics etc.
Numerate and able to develop and control budgets, analyse sales and revenue patterns and respond with action accordingly.
Desirable Experience and skills
Graphic design skills and experience.
A recognised marketing qualification.
A current network of relevant press, PR contacts.
Management experience within an arts or cultural environment.
Photography skills.
Full clean driving licence.
Local knowledge of the area
Remuneration and Terms:
This is a full-time post with a salary of 30,000
The post has an annual leave entitlement of 22 days holiday per annum (plus 8 statutory bank holidays), staff receive an additional day off for their birthday and annual leave rises after four years' service. Staff are automatically enrolled in the company pension scheme.
Due to the nature of the business, the post may require some hours to be worked outside normal working hours. Time off in lieu will be accrued on these occasions to be taken during quieter times as agreed by the Chief Executive Officer.

Worcester Theatres

Worcester Theatres operates The Swan Theatre and Huntingdon Hall. It produces via the Worcester Repertory Company and Young Rep.
Theatre is a 360 seat theatre with a proscenium arch stage, presenting a professional drama, music, dance, comedy and children's theatre programme, whilst also offering community performance events .It also has a studio theatre (Swan Studio), which is housed in a separate block adjacent to the main theatre which seats 60 and is used for Worcester Theatres' professional repertory company, the Worcester Rep, our Resident Theatre Company Vamos Theatre, Emerging Artists, and is also used by amateur and touring companies. The Studio block also contains a rehearsal studio, which is hired out for daytime and evening hires for community classes and a workshop space.
is a grade two listed converted Methodist chapel which is now used as a 350 seat venue staging, music, spoken word, comedy and theatrical productions. It is a very popular venue, unique in its style and regularly sees A-listed comedians visiting. It also has a varied and diverse music programme and artists who use the venue, do so, due to its amazing acoustics and the intimacy of the venue.
Programming at both venues has been reviewed and refreshed recently to reflect the diversity of the city and to ensure that we are providing more for all at our venues, we are also looking at ways of broadening how we work with more artists and arts organisations in the city and beyond to expand our reach.
Worcester Repertory Company
is our theatre producing arm and currently producesan open air production with a run in July at the Commandery.Arun of a Shakespeare production or classic at one of the venues in the Autumn, a pantomime at the Swan Theatre, which sees attendees averaging 19,000, Children's Studio productions (spring, and winter) along with a piece of new writing.
