Can you help us deliver fantastic campaigns that make a difference to Medway residents, stakeholders and the local community? We are looking for a talented Marketing Officer to join our busy and expanding Communications and Marketing Team.
Your role will focus on implementing a range of marketing and communications campaigns and initiatives that will promote the work of Medway Council's Regeneration, Culture and Environment (RCE) Directorate. This will include supporting on a number of portfolios within this Directorate, which could include Regeneration, Town Centres, Heritage, Business and Local Economy, Sport, Frontline Services and other areas.
You will have a passion for public-sector communications, confident in engaging with residents, stakeholders, and the community every day to achieve specific service and policy objectives in-line with the council's brand guidelines.
You will have experience in managing a busy workload, able to adapt to deliver against proactive and reactive communications and marketing requirements for the RCE Directorate. Supporting the Marketing Manager, you will run community-focused communications and marketing activities including developing engaging materials and approaches, supporting, organising and promoting engagement activities, consultations and events, and developing relationships with external organisations and groups. Good time management and admin skills are a must!
The successful candidate will have experience working on multichannel projects and campaigns using BTL and ATL marketing channels. You will contribute to the development of a strategic marketing communications plan to deliver against key corporate objectives across the RCE portfolios.
An excellent copywriter, we're looking for someone with experience in creating content for video, social media, print, reporting and other communications, including the council's magazine Medway Matters.
Good communication skills are also key as you will liaise with team members, clients, agencies and members.
The role would suit someone with a keen interest working in public sector communications. Experience is desired but not essential. You will have a relevant degree, while having the creative spark to deliver fantastic results.
You will be supported by your Marketing Team, working closely with your Marketing Manager to help you settle into your new role and help you deliver outstanding campaigns and communications against your portfolio priorities.
We are seeking a Marketing Officer to join the team at level A. This is the entry point of the role, so you will need to be able to demonstrate the relevant knowledge, experience and skills to get you started, but you will be supported to develop in your role through induction, probation and a supportive Performance Appraisal and Career Conversation. All elements of level A listed within the person specification are essential. Through your induction you will be introduced to the Career Progression Framework (CPF), which will help you to identify your areas of strength and any development needs.

Career Progression Frameworks (CPF) have been introduced for all roles at Medway Council. These frameworks provide a mechanism for employees to take ownership of their development within their post and be rewarded accordingly. The salary you will be offered will be at level A. There will be further opportunity once in post to progress from level A to B, and B to C.
