ArmstrongB2B is a 60 strong, multidisciplinary agency that offers strategy, design, digital, social media, 3D, animation, photography, video & motion from a single source. We are based in Chester city centre and work globally with world leading industrial manufacturing brands. We develop marketing strategies that deliver exceptional ROI for our customers.

Our work includes rebrand and repositioning, commercial strategy, integrated marketing campaigns, product launches, market diversification. We also work clients on product animations, innovative web platforms, corporate videos, photography shoots and exhibition support.

The Role



We're looking for a strategic thinker with a strong research instinct and commercial curiosity to join our Commercial Team as a Marketing Strategist / Planner. This dual-purpose role is central to driving smarter, more effective marketing - both for our existing clients and in how we win new ones.

Reporting to the Head of Growth Strategy, you'll work closely with client services teams to deliver research and strategy projects across our portfolio, helping clients uncover growth opportunities, define positioning, and shape marketing direction. Simultaneously, you'll play a critical role in business development--arming our prospecting and commercial teams with actionable insights to improve conversion and sharpen our new business targeting.

Responsibilities



Client Strategy Support (50%)

Collaborate with Client Services to deliver research, insight gathering, and strategic development for existing client projects.

Conduct desk research, competitive reviews, audience analysis, and market scans to inform brand and marketing strategies.

Help shape brand positioning, value propositions, customer journeys, and campaign planning.

Package and present insights and strategic thinking in clear, compelling formats for clients and internal teams.

Participate in client workshops and planning sessions as required.

New Business Insight & Support (50%)

Research prospective clients and their industries to provide commercial teams with insight-rich profiles and talking points.

Identify trends, opportunities, and growth areas for potential clients, particularly where marketing can drive business impact.

Build industry landscape overviews and strategic assessments to support proactive outreach and pitch preparation.

Work closely with the Business Development teams to improve appointment-setting conversion through tailored insight.

Requirements & Skills



3+ years' experience in a strategy, planning or research role (agency experience preferred).

Strong desk research skills with an ability to turn findings into usable insight.

An understanding of brand, marketing, and communications strategy.

Commercial awareness and the ability to spot patterns, trends, and opportunities.

A collaborative mindset--able to work across teams and disciplines with ease.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Organised, proactive, and comfortable managing multiple streams of work.

Package



Salary 35-40,000 depending on experience
