JOB PURPOSE

The Global Marketing Capabilities and Transformation team is a part of Global Marketing and tasked to upskill marketers and make Unilever\xe2\x80\x99s marketing more competitive and future-fit. Our method is to drive change management at scale across all of marketing (and its cross functional partners on relevant topics).

We started our journey of change with the introduction of an overarching new philosophy of marketing, called Get on The Frontline. Introduced in January 2021, this new way of marketing is designed to help unleash effectiveness, creativity and purpose in our marketing and will lead to changes to our brand engagement, how we innovate, how we organise ourselves, and how we use data to our competitive advantage. The team is, in short, at the frontline of change in Unilever marketing.

The team is led by the Global Vice-President of Marketing Capabilities and Transformation who reports to the company\xe2\x80\x99s Chief Brand Officer. It consists of various sub-teams, each with a discrete scope to transform and build capabilities across all of Unilever\xe2\x80\x99s business groups. Each is led by a director or a VP.

The new Marketing Transformation & Capabilities Assistant Manager and team assistant will be part responsible for elements of the programme delivery (75%), part for support to the VP and their direct team (25%). See next section for further details.

The role of Marketing Transformation & Capabilities Assistant Manager and team assistant requires a high level of internal collaboration and understanding of the end-to-end requirements of the projects to perform effectively in this role. This includes understanding of current and new marketing concepts the teams develop and work with. As such the role offers plenty of development opportunity in the space of building their marketing skills, change management, and marketing project management.

Frequent contact and partnering with brand communities, marketing leaders and functional experts across the Unilever world is essential to delivering the job. As such, the role appeals to one\xe2\x80\x99s ability to think on one\xe2\x80\x99s feet and work out creative/ad hoc solutions to help our network of leaders with solutions that fit their local reality.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Get on the Frontline and Marketing Academy co-ordination and management (75%):
  • Set up and maintain the network of Brand Community Managers: organising periodic calls and content agenda.
  • Set up and maintain the network of GBVPs and brand leaders.
  • Set up and maintain the network of 85 Change leaders across the globe. Organise quarterly drop-in clinics and collect and redistribute best practices.
  • Be first point of contact for questions from the network.
  • Co-ordinate, analyse surveys and present the results.
  • Co-ordinate program logistics and support with the deployment of the activity program: event organisation, invitation management for (future) workshops.
  • Co-ordination with the marketing academy and learning teams.
  • Preparation of presentation materials and briefing documents, designed as per style guides
  • Budget management and forecasting.
Team support (25%) for the VP and selected direct team members:
  • Full diary management for VP \xe2\x80\x93 and selected diary management for other members of the team: assessing competing priorities and anticipating requirements; filtering and prioritising, setting up meetings and calls.
  • Purchase orders creation & management.
  • Screening, responding to and redirecting mail, as appropriate.
  • Co-ordination of expenses and invoice processing
  • Pro-actively tackling issues related to administrative processes to ensure speed and efficiency.
  • Ownership of starter/leaver admin process for team
  • Event producer for Live Teams events
  • Organisation and administration of local meetings & visitors \xe2\x80\x93 coordinating all logistics i.e. attendees, timings, equipment and rooms.
  • Organising international travel, including preparation of itineraries, visas, etc. together with management of out of office requirements)
  • Organising international meetings using knowledge of technologies available to deliver the most appropriate solution i.e. telepresence, live meetings etc.

  • Candidate should have a high degree of maturity, self-confidence and have strong interpersonal skills.
  • Easy connector with strong influencing skills to build relationships with key stakeholders internationally across different levels internally.
  • Good organisational and time management skills with the ability to prioritise workload and multi-task.

  • Ability to create presentations and documents in design and lay-out.

  • Solid IT skills are required, particularly Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Teams and Forms.
  • Proficiency and interest in new technologies and channels, such as connection tools, or agile working tools.
  • The incumbent must be comfortable working in a virtual environment, embracing new ways of working and using knowledge of the technologies available to proactively support the project and the team.
  • Some prior community management experience
  • Experience in project management
  • Experience managing a fixed budget.
  • Preferably experience in marketing (in Unilever) and/or understanding of Unilever\xe2\x80\x99s marketing processes, its individual tools and how it manifests in reality to accurately support the change leader network.
  • Prior experience as personal or team assistant
  • Experience in managing office processes and where necessary, developing new approaches to meeting changing needs.

Location

In September 2020, Unilever announced the intention to build a new sustainable campus site in Kingston, London to house the employees who currently work in 100 Victoria Embankment in Blackfriars, Lever House in Kingston and Graze in Richmond. We are creating our own Unilever sustainable, agile work environment, purposefully bringing us together in our own Unilever ecosystem. The campus is due to be completed in early 2025 and will consist of two interconnected buildings, as well as landscaped surrounding areas.
