Job Description

Some of the duties and responsibilities will include but are not limited to:



The Master/OIM has overall Command & Control of the vessel/installation in an Emergency. Has overriding authority and the responsibility to make decisions, with respect to safety and pollution prevention and to request the Company's assistance as necessary. Ensuring that the vessel/installation is operated within the confines of the ISM Code at all times. Has overall responsibility for the Health, Safety and Welfare of all personnel onboard. Has overall responsibility for the maintenance of good order onboard as well as discipline. Has overall command and control of the vessel/installation and associated activities within the 500 meters exclusion zone of the installation, also when the vessel is under way. To ensure that all personnel are aware of and work safely following Stena Drilling Policies and Procedures. Acts as the mediator and representative for Stena Drilling onboard the vessel they are assigned. Ensure compliance with Local Governmental requirements. Ensure that the vessel/installations certification remains valid, and available, at all times. Ensure that sufficient certificated personnel are onboard to satisfy the vessels Safe Manning Certificate. Monitor the activities of departments under the control of the Barge Master, Chief Engineer, Senior Toolpusher, Catering Manager and all Operator and Service Company Supervisors. Manage the safe efficient and effective running of the vessel/installation. Daily discuss Operational requirements with Operators Representatives, Stena Supervisors, Service Company, Onshore Rig Manager and Onshore Operator. Ensure compliance with Stena Drilling Management System (SMS). Ensure that Offshore Performance Appraisals and Competence Assurance scheme is conducted in accordance with Stena Drilling Policy and address all outstanding and overdue standards/elements. Ensure Stena Drilling management are informed of any issues in a timely manner and investigated in line with Stena Drilling Policy. Allocate tasks to Barge Master and provide adequate supervision in order to ensure that all such tasks are carried out in a safe and efficient manner. Responsible and accountable for the safety of the personnel working under their direction and shall be expected to conduct operations at all times in full compliance with company procedures (SMS). Identify and address any violations of procedures concerning personnel under their direction. Continuous or repeated violations of policies or procedures should be highlighted and brought to the attention of the HoD/Master - OIM. Review Presight data on a daily basis and promptly address overdue or failed target items. Comply with the Management of Change Principle. Responsibilities as SECT Owner and overall responsibility for ensuring SECT process is being managed correctly onboard the installation. Review ORA's ensuring they have appropriate and sufficient mitigations. Actively participate in accident/incident investigations when required. Develop and deliver measurable and demonstrable SMART objectives to your Rig Manager on an annual basis Any other duties as required by the Rig Manager.

Suitable applicants should ideally have:



Valid UK Class 1 (Master Mariner) Certificate of Competency or entitlement to obtain UK Class 1 (Master Mariner) Certificate of Equivalent Competency Previous, extensive experience as a Barge Master on DP Drilling Unit. Ability to make rational decisions in high pressure situations. * DP certificate if serving on DP units.
