We are looking for Materials controller for one of our key defence clients on a Permanent basis. The clients are word leaders in advanced protection system for vehicles and occupants. The Job

As a Material Controller, you will be accountable for the management of materials management activities, ensuring that agreed-upon budgets and performance objectives are met. The function has direct responsibility over the materials that fall within designated projects, as well as management of supplier relationships and performance.

They assist the Procurement team in ensuring that material is supplied on time and in the correct quantity in accordance with project and company operational needs.

The primary responsibility of this function is to manage the day-to-day supply chain activities, ensuring that suppliers deliver in accordance with the production plan. The MC will effectively handle internal and external key stakeholders. This will be accomplished in part through efficient supply chain management and supplier relationship management. With full ownership of each supplier\'s performance and the level of inventory held against their project, this function is critical to the organization\'s performance, managing a substantial portion of the turnover.
Specific Responsibilities.

Main Responsibilities

  • Take responsibility for project demand and supply management for the provided project requirements.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert for Material Control activities in order to assist the Procurement team with supplier selection.
  • Serve as a delegate in the absence of the Materials Manager.
  • Work with the Production Planning team to schedule material in to support the build plan while maintaining optimal inventory levels.
  • Keep an ordered open order book.
  • Work with the SQA team to ensure that non-confirming material is returned to the supplier and that replacements are supplied.
  • A diverse set of supply chain abilities, including negotiation, technical understanding, supplier management, and risk management.

Experience/Knowledge
  • CIPS/APICS qualified or equivalent preferred.
  • Experience in SAP or similar ERP system
  • Extensive experience of material control in a manufacturing, engineering and production environment essential
  • Prior experience in purchase order scheduling and expediting is required.
  • Capable of dealing with difficult external and internal stakeholders.
  • Experience with the defence procurement and commercial sales procedures is preferred.
  • Excellent MS Office abilities, particularly in Excel, are required.
You MUST BE Eligible for UK Security Clearance to minimum SC (\'Secret\') level.
