At Navara Oat Milling we are dedicated oat millers focused on growing, sourcing and milling the best quality British oats in a sustainable way. Oats are growing in popularity as they are a nutritious and versatile food ingredient widely used in cereals, bakery and biscuit production as well as in the beverages and cosmetics sectors.

This fantastic opportunity is pivotal to the development of this newly established company, providing an opportunity of being part of the company commissioning team and then moving forward into a shift pattern.

Role Overview:



At Navara Oat Milling we are dedicated oat millers focused on growing, sourcing and milling the best quality British oats in a sustainable way.

This position is varied and will be a flexible role operating between managing the automatic packaging system operation and all warehouse duties, including the loading of vehicles for despatch and receipting and storing goods received.

The material handler will be responsible for the efficient operation of a high capacity automatic packing system for the production of bags, typically 25kg and big bags, typically 1000kg of oat mill products. The finished products will then be stored appropriately and when required loaded for despatch. All duties from receipt of finished product from the production area, the receipt of packaging and other consumables, stock counting activities through to carefully ensuring that all put aways are allocated in correct locations/departments to ensure that customer expectations and delivery OTIF is achieved in accordance with the supply chain KPI's and standards.

This role is of a physical nature and with the varied accountabilities flexibility and adaptability is a must.

Key Behaviours and Skills :



Experience of working in warehouse and automatic packing environment. Food manufacturing experience beneficial but not essential

Able to demonstrate operating in a values led business focused on people and service to customers

Experience of working in a safe way and supportive of colleagues as required

Able to demonstrate working with high standards of housekeeping - Clean As You Go

Ability to undertake individual and team responsibility and accountability whilst delivering efficient and high quality service/product

Be able to demonstrate flexibility, reliability and enthusiasm for the role

In possession of an in-date RTITB Counterbalance Licence

Have at least 1 years experience of operating a counterbalance in a high volume operation

Able to demonstrate clear understanding and interpretation of the daily inbound and outbound schedule and achieve all KPI's and SLA requirements linked to this

Understanding of Food Safety procedure - ideally educated to Level 2 in Food Safety

Understanding of the principles and application of HACCP, VACCP and TACCP - ideally educated to Level 2 HACCP

Able to support the team in applying GMP principles and procedures.

Key Responsibilities :



OPERATIONS - working with the Supply Chain Manager/Shift Manager to ensure that trailers are loaded or unloaded in a safe and timely manner

o Ensuring that all goods that are loaded or unloaded match relevant paperwork and managed to load specifications.

o Loading and unloading vehicles in a safe manager ensuring SOPs are always followed.

o Preparing and completing warehouse orders for delivery or pickup in accordance with the transport / production schedule

o Storing and rotating stock according to established procedures

o Reporting any damage or missing goods to the warehouse leadership team

o Keeping the warehouse environment clean and tidy and maintaining equipment.

o Following workplace health and safety rules when handling goods.

o Assisting with warehouse inventory controls, which typically involves using the sites EPR systems.

o Ensuring that all MHE equipment is pre and post checked when in use.

o Working closely with the production team to ensure any stock / timing issues are addressed a reported.

o Keeping records of the stock on the warehouse management system (ERP) so that it can be located quickly.

o Identifying products and labelling of stock pre despatch

o Operating the forklifts to move and rearrange stock and ensure that's products are stores safely.

o Carrying out line feeding duties to support production as and when requested.

o Management of the drivers in terms of allocations, loading, and despatching

o Liaising with the supply chain / transport team regarding schedules / driver related issues

o Participate in audits, inspections, period checks on site.

o Attend all required training and development that's requires to carry it their operations.

o The opportunity to be multi skilled in various areas - Milling / Transport & Production

o Accountable for ensuring they work in a safe working manner in accordance with the SOPS

o Responsible for the reporting of faults, machine breakdowns, hazards, near missed and accidents.

o Yard checks and other yard related duties

o Reporting any issues to Warehouse Leadership Team, and responding accordingly

o Working on the packing line ensuring that finished product is move to the correct location in a timely manner to prevent build up of stock on floor resulting in negative warehouse fill.

o Participate in company and departmental stock counting activities.

HEALTH & SAFETY - accountable for ensuring they work in a safe working manner in accordance with the Standard Operating Procedures. Responsible for the reporting of any faults, machine breakdowns, hazards, accidents or near misses. Adhere to all company PPE requirements. TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT - attend all required training and development that is required to carry out their operations role. Become multi-skilled across all milling and production areas. CONTINOUS IMPROVEMENT - work proactively in an environment where continuous improvement is part of our everyday operation - making ideas and suggestions on improvement to the Supply Chain Manager/Shift Manager.

What is expected of me?

This role will initially be part of the company commissioning team, working alongside team colleagues, equipment manufacturers and suppliers on an intense training programme. (6am-2pm, 2pm-10pm rotating weekly). The working week will be 40 hours per week, 8 hour shifts daily Monday-Friday.
