Overview of the role:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Materials Controller to manage, track, and coordinate the movement and inventory of materials throughout our operations. The ideal candidate will ensure materials are received, stored, and distributed accurately and efficiently, supporting production schedules and minimizing downtime.
What you'll be responsible for:
Monitor and maintain accurate inventory levels of materials and supplies.
Receive, inspect, and verify incoming materials and reconcile against purchase orders.
Coordinate material deliveries to production or project sites as per schedule.
Maintain proper documentation and records for material movements and transactions.
Work closely with procurement, warehouse, and project teams to forecast material needs.
Identify and report any material shortages, excesses, or quality issues.
Ensure proper storage practices to maintain material quality and minimize loss or damage.
Conduct periodic inventory counts and audits to ensure stock accuracy.
Assist with implementation and improvement of materials tracking systems.
Adhere to all safety, quality, and compliance procedures.
Coordinate the return of unused, defective, or surplus materials to suppliers or central storage, ensuring appropriate documentation, labelling, and condition checks.
Liaise with procurement and quality teams to manage and track return authorizations (RAs) and credit notes where applicable.
What you'll bring:
Proven experience as a Materials Controller, Storekeeper, Inventory Coordinator, or similar role.
Strong understanding of supply chain, inventory, and warehouse processes.
Proficient in inventory management systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or other ERP systems).
Good organizational and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks.
Basic computer skills (Excel, Word, email, etc.).
Nice to have:
Forklift certification or experience operating material handling equipment.
Knowledge of HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) standards.
