Job Description

Position Summary



The Materials Stock Controller & Buyer is responsible for overseeing the complete materials cycle, from purchasing and supplier coordination to inventory control and stock distribution. This role ensures that materials are sourced cost-effectively, delivered on time, and accurately managed within the process to support smooth operational performance.

Key Responsibilities



Purchasing & Supplier Management



Source and purchase materials, components, and supplies based on production requirements. Identify, evaluate, and negotiate with suppliers to secure the best prices, quality, and delivery terms. Maintain strong supplier relationships and monitor performance. Create and manage purchase orders, ensuring accuracy and timely follow-up. Resolve procurement issues, including delays, shortages, or quality concerns. Monitor market trends and material cost fluctuations to inform purchasing decisions.

Inventory Control & Stock Management



Maintain accurate inventory levels through regular stock checks. Receive, inspect, and record incoming materials, verifying quantities and quality. Manage stock movements Conduct regular cycle counts and full stock audits, investigating discrepancies. Organize inventory storage areas to ensure safety, accessibility, and efficient space use. Identify low-stock items and trigger timely reorders based on lead times and demand forecasts. Prepare inventory and procurement reports for management.

Cross-Functional Coordination



Work closely with production planners to ensure materials meet schedule requirements. Collaborate with finance on invoicing, supplier payments, and cost tracking. Liaise with teams to streamline receiving, storing, and dispatching processes.

Skills & Qualifications



Experience in purchasing, inventory control, or supply chain management. Strong negotiation and communication skills. High attention to detail, accuracy, and organisational skills. Ability to interpret stock reports and make informed ordering decisions. Basic understanding of material quality standards and logistics practices. Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.

Would suit applicants from a merchant or wholesale background with construction and / or electrical experience.



Job Type: Full-time

Pay: 150.00-160.00 per day
