We are a small independent secondary school, based in the London Borough of Brent, for young people with special educational needs (14 -19 year olds).

Our mission is to engage young people to enable them to identify with their own talents and strengths. To prepare them for a successful and enriched future where they can contribute to society around them irrespective of their starting point.

Edith Kay School is looking for a full-time Mathematics Teacher to join our small, dedicated team.

The anticipated start-date is January 2026.

The Mathematics Teacher will be responsible for delivering high quality teaching, through planning engaging lessons to enable all pupils to make the best possible progress. The successful candidate must:

Demonstrate excellent subject knowledge and communicate this in an enthusiastic and imaginative way. Have Qualified Teacher status Have a minimum of an Honours degree level qualification Have evidence of teaching across all levels and abilities at GCSE and A-Level for at least one year Knowledge and understanding of the theory and proactive of providing effectively for the individuals needs of all pupils (e.g. classroom organisation and learning strategies) Develop, maintain and stimulate pupils' curiosity, interest and enjoyment in Mathematics Be prepared to innovate and devise imaginatively varied ways of teaching their subjects to inspire pupils; enabling them to have equal access to Mathematics and to experience success in their work Use teaching strategies that allow for the full range of ability and learning styles in each class, particularly taking into account the learning needs of LDD students. Mark work according to departmental and School marking policies, giving appropriate feedback and maintaining records of students' progress in their subject. Research new topic areas and maintain up-to-date subject knowledge. Undertake report writing and the award of internal grades as required Have a knowledge and understanding of the statutory requirements of legislation concerning Equal Opportunities, Health & Safety, SEND and Safeguarding Children Be able to communicate effectively in Mathenmatics (both orally and in writing) to a variety of audiences Be sympathetic to the aims and ethos of our school
An enhanced DBS check is required for this position

Salary is dependent upon experience. Edith Kay School has its own independent competitive pay scales.

The role is for a fixed term contract and will be based at the school, which is located in the London Borough of Brent. Applicants must already be living within communting distance of the school or must be prepared to move within communting distance. Remote working applications will not be considered. Applicants must also already have the right to live and work in the UK.
