Job Description

Health Innovation West of England is seeking an experienced and motivated senior clinician with expierece in midwifery or Maternity services to provide strategic clinical leadership for our Maternity and Neonatal Safety Improvement Programme. This role offers an excellent opportunity to influence system?wide improvement and contribute to the delivery of the National Patient Safety Strategy.



Working as part of the national network of 15 Health Innovation Networks, you will support the development, implementation and evaluation of key maternity and neonatal workstreams across the West of England. You will work collaboratively with programme teams, clinical colleagues and system partners to drive high?quality, evidence?based improvement.



Programme Areas Include:



Optimisation and stabilisation of the pre?term infant

Early recognition and management of deterioration in women and babies

Avoiding brain injury in childbirth

Perinatal culture and leadership

Black Maternity Matters



You will be a senior clinician with substantial experience in maternity and/or neonatal care, a strong understanding of patient safety, and a proven ability to lead and influence across organisational boundaries. You will bring credibility, excellent communication skills and a commitment to improving outcomes for women, babies and families.

Health Innovation West of England is one of 15 organisations in the Health

Innovation Network (HIN), commissioned by NHS England to support the

adoption and spread of innovations within organisations across our

geographic footprint.

Additionally, the HIN has two other specific commissions; from NHS England

to run local Patient Safety Collaboratives, and from the Office of Life Sciences

to operate local Innovation Exchanges. Within Health Innovation West of

England, we have Programme Delivery directorate with specific functions

focusing on:

Deployment Evaluation and Insights, and Innovation & Growth,

with a separate directorate for Corporate Services.

Health Innovation West of England is hosted by Royal United Hospitals Bath

NHS Foundation Trust; however, the organisation operates autonomously with

its own Managing Director and executive team, and a Board with membership

from our partner organisations across the West of England.

The Maternity and Neonatal Clinical Lead will sit within the Deployment Team,

and the primary aim of the role will be to support the delivery of various

programmes within the Patient Safety Commission under the guidance of the

Medical Director.

Act as a Maternity and Neonatal expert to help manage and proactively

promote relationships with key stakeholders.

Provide clinical leadership for quality improvement across the West of

England, raising awareness and encouraging the involvement of clinicians

from all disciplines.

Help create the clinical vision for implementation of the Patient Safety

Collaborative workstreams and give clinical advice on priority setting,

measurement, and evaluation.

Participate, where appropriate, in national events and national and

regional networking, collaborating with other Health Innovation

organisations working on similar themes.

Respond to and report to the HIN assurance and reporting processes and

the national Patient Safety Collaborative as required.

To deliver the identified work programme effectively the Maternity and Neonatal Clinical Lead



will need to:



Demonstrate evidence of partnership working, persuasion, negotiation and

influencing skills at local and/or national level.

Build strong collaborative relationships with other clinical and professional networks. Promote and provide an evidence-based approach to decision making. Ensure projects benefit from the best clinical expertise and evidence available. Maintain credibility with all key players, fostering a culture of collaboration for the

delivery of equitable, high-quality care.

Foster a culture of multi-professional engagement across healthcare pathways. Act as a champion for patients and their interests and involve the public and patients

in programme developments and decision-making.

Uphold organisational policies and principles on the promotion of equality and antiracism. Work with other structures, systems and organisations, aligning innovation,

education, informatics and quality improvement.

Use insight in the use of data analysis to inform quality improvement. Ensure compliance with all governance requirements within Health Innovation West

of England.
