You will provide comprehensive administrative support and will work closely with healthcare professionals. You will be required to prioritise your workload and meet deadlines. It is essential that you are highly organised and able to work on your own initiative as well as part of a team.
As part of the Corporate Cancer Team, we support and help our MDT cancer teams to deliver quality and timely, patient focused cancer care. We are committed to working in line with the values described in The Leeds Way to make work rewarding as well as challenging.
MDTs discuss and plan care for all patients with a diagnosis of cancer or a suspected cancer. The post-holder will be expected to help prepare, organise, and support MDT meetings to ensure patient pathways are progressed.
Main duties of the job
The role includes preparing, producing, and distributing lists of patients for discussion at the MDT meeting and capturing accurate data during the MDT, live typing to the patients medical record, and using medical terminology,
You will play an important part in tracking the patient journey from the point of GP referral to treatment and be responsible for ensuring that required datasets are collated, and accurately entered, to comply with local and national expectations and standards in terms of the Cancer Outcomes & Services Dataset, Cancer Waiting Times, Chemotherapy and National Audit data. The post-holder must be able to demonstrate excellent organisational, interpersonal and communication skills; work well under pressure and on their own initiative. We require an individual with administrative experience, competent IT skills and strong attention to detail.

  • Experience of organising meetings and taking minutes and/or live typing
  • Knowledge of a wide range of administrative procedures including finance.
  • A good awareness of and understanding of issues surrounding diversity and patient involvement
  • Previous administrative/ clerical experience.
Desirable
  • Knowledge of the NHS. Work experience in a health or social care setting.
  • Personal or work experience of working with diversity e.g. disabled people, people from different cultures.

  • Competent in word processing - Collate patient lists for MDT meetings and subsequent distribution to relevant parties
  • Use of spreadsheet packages (Excel is used in the department) and databases (Datix is used in the department). Undertake routine data collection from identified sources and data input into infoflex sy
  • Ensure data quality; work to maintain system integrity and ensure accuracy of information obtained and inputted
  • Good written and verbal communication skills with good command of spoken and written English and Numeracy
  • Must be willing to work within the Trusts policies e.g. confidentiality, data protection, health and safety etc.
  • Attend staff meetings to keep abreast of departmental and trust business.
  • Assist cancer MDT assistant and cancer information officer with the information requirements of the team
