We are looking for a Mechanical & Electrical Team
Leader
to our Estates Department at the Kent & Canterbury Hospital
.
The M&E Team Leader will have direct management of the inhouse Mechanical & Electrical Maintenance team along with overseeing contractors. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring the efficient management, repair, and maintenance of all mechanical, electrical, and building services. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a hands-on role in a fast-paced commercial environment.
Working Monday to Friday, 8am to 4pm + on call (1 week in every 5)
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and supervise maintenance, reactive works, and minor project schemes.
Allocate maintenance tasks efficiently through the CAFM system.
Ensure patient needs are prioritised to enhance their experience.
Manage resources to provide effective building maintenance services.
Oversee staff performance, productivity, attendance, and compliance with policies.
Ensure compliance with Health & Safety Executive and Department of Health guidelines.
Foster and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Implement and oversee the use of relevant software systems for reporting and documentation.
Encourage a culture of professional customer service excellence within the team.
Essential Knowledge & Skills:
Strong expertise in mechanical and electrical systems including steam plants, HVAC control, CWS/DHWS systems, and pneumatic systems.
Ability to interpret schematic drawings and perform fault-finding down to component level.
Excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a team.
Solid understanding of statutory regulations and health & safety compliance.
Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to make sound decisions under pressure.
IT proficiency, including experience managing electronic CAFM PPM programmes.
Qualifications & Experience:
Ideally experience in an Acute Hospital environment.
Completion of a structured training programme in mechanical engineering - qualified to HNC/HND level.
Electrical experience with relevant qualifications.
Qualifications and working application of the HTM suite.
Previous hands on team lead or management experience with electrical and/or mechanical engineers/technicians.
Experience with, CWS systems, HVAC control systems, Pneumatic Systems and (ideally but not essential) steam plant & associate equipment.
