Mechanical Design Engineer
Cookstown
Full-time | Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm
The Opportunity
Our client, a leading engineering solutions provider, is seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join their growing team in Cookstown. This role offers the chance to work within a modern office environment on exciting water and wastewater projects, collaborating with a multidisciplinary design team and contributing to the full project lifecycle.
What You'll Do

  • Deliver mechanical design for water/wastewater projects in line with client specifications.
  • Produce P&IDs (using Plant 3D), 3D models (Revit), and detailed drawings for fabrication and site installations.
  • Prepare pump calculations, equipment schedules, and technical specifications.
  • Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors for quotations and equipment details.
  • Compile technical submissions for client review and attend regular project/site meetings.
  • Work closely with process, electrical, and ICA engineers across projects.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO Quality, Environmental, and Health & Safety standards.
  • Take ownership of projects from initial specification through to commissioning.
About You
Essential:
  • Mechanical engineering qualification (HNC/HND or similar).
  • Minimum 4 years' experience in a mechanical design role.
  • Strong background in 3D modelling (Revit, Inventor, SolidWorks, etc).
  • Experience in fabrication design.
  • Proven ability to work within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Innovative and solutions-focused approach.
Desirable:
  • Experience with AEC software (Revit, Plant 3D, Navisworks).
  • Previous exposure to multidiscipline projects within the M&E sector, ideally water industry.
  • Knowledge of ISO19650 BIM standards.
  • Ability to contribute to commercial management of M&E works, including assisting with cost estimates.
