Mechanical Engineer - Double Days

Location: Pontrilas Sawmills, Herefordshire

Hours: Double Shift Pattern (05:30-14:00 & 13:30-22:00), Monday to Friday

Salary: 37,169 + Weekly Production Bonus + Overtime

Pontrilas Sawmills, a well-established and market-leading timber manufacturer, is looking for a skilled Mechanical Engineer with strong expertise in hydraulics, pneumatics, and welding (MIG, MAG, and MMA) to join our dedicated engineering team. What You'll Be Doing:
Maintain and repair high-performance sawmill machinery and mechanical systems.
Troubleshoot and service hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
Carry out welding and fabrication tasks to support plant maintenance.
Work proactively within a double shift rotation to ensure smooth production.
Support continuous improvement and health & safety initiatives.

What We're Looking For:
Proven mechanical engineering experience in an industrial setting.
Strong working knowledge of:
Hydraulic systems - troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair.
Pneumatic systems - valves, actuators, compressors, and controls.
Welding - MIG, MAG, and MMA techniques.
Completion of a recognized Mechanical Apprenticeship (or equivalent qualification).
Flexible and reliable approach to working hours.
Strong fault-finding and problem-solving abilities.
Team player with a positive attitude and a hands-on approach.
