Description & Scope:
SLB is a leading provider of technology and services to the energy industry across the world. We design, develop, and deliver technology that transforms how work is done.
You will be part of the multi-disciplinary Drilling Mechanics and Interpretation group at Schlumberger Cambridge Research (SCR), developing technologies for well construction in both the oil & gas and geothermal energy sectors.
Your role will be to work with research scientists and engineers in our group, to develop energy harvesting technologies, to power miniaturised instrumentation used for downhole sensing and measurement in drilling tools.
The project will involve identification of appropriate technologies, adapting and testing them for the proposed applications. Candidates should be detail-oriented, enjoy new challenges and have good communication skills.
Responsibilities:
Identification and selection of technologies
Planning and carrying out experimental work, ensuring that laboratory activities comply with Health & Safety standards and guidelines
Analysing and interpreting experimental results
Participating in regular meetings to discuss project status
Writing technical reports and presenting to peers
Qualifications
Studying towards a Bachelors or Masters in engineering or physical science or a related discipline
Mechanical engineering and CAD
Instrumentation and electronics
Project planning
Teamwork and collaboration
Exposure to any of the following would be a plus:
+ Programming languages for data analysis (e.g. Matlab, Python)
+ Microcontrollers and firmware development (e.g. Arduino, C/C++)
+ Electronic circuit design and modelling
3D CAD design
