Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced
Mechanical Fitter
to join our production team. This role is suited to a skilled individual with strong hands-on mechanical experience, capable of working with minimal supervision and contributing to high-quality, safety-critical products. The successful candidate will play a key role in assembly, fitting, testing, and continuous improvement of our manufacturing processes. This is a three month contract but may lead to a permanent position.
Main Job Responsibilities:
Mechanical Assembly & Fitting:
Assemble, fit, and install mechanical components and sub-assemblies in line with engineering drawings, specifications, and company standards.
Use of Tools & Equipment:
Safely operate hand tools, power tools, jigs, fixtures, and production machinery required for fitting and assembly tasks.
Quality Control & Inspection:
Inspect components and finished assemblies to ensure they meet strict quality and safety requirements; identify and rectify faults where possible and escalate issues when required.
Fault Finding & Rework:
Diagnose assembly or mechanical issues and carry out corrective actions to ensure products meet functional and performance standards.
Material Handling & Stock Awareness:
Handle components and materials responsibly, ensuring correct parts are used and reporting any shortages or discrepancies.
Health & Safety Compliance:
Work in full compliance with health and safety regulations, particularly in a safety-critical manufacturing environment.
Equipment Care & Basic Maintenance:
Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas to a high standard; assist with routine maintenance and continuous improvement initiatives.
Team Collaboration:
Work closely with engineers, production staff, and quality personnel to meet production targets, deadlines, and customer requirements.
About You:
Experience:
Proven experience as a Mechanical Fitter or in a similar skilled manufacturing or assembly role. Experience in motorsport, automotive, aerospace, defence, or safety-critical industries is highly desirable.
Technical Skills:
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications
Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
High level of precision and attention to detail
Qualifications:
Relevant health & safety training advantageous
Working Requirements:
Ability to work independently and take ownership of tasks
Physically capable of manual handling and standing for extended periods
Flexibility to work overtime, or weekends when required
