Mechanical Maintenance Fitter : Aspatria, Cumbria
Salary : 43,313 pa (incl shift allowance and bonus from day 1)
23days holiday + BH
Hours : Mon-Thurs 06:00 to 14:00, Fri 06:00 to 13:00.
(Mon-Thurs 14:00 to 22:30, Fri 13:00 to 18:00 - from 2027)
Working for a well established and secure manufacturing organisation, MacArthur Recruitment are helping them look for an experienced Mechanical Maintenance Fitter (Engineer) to support a range of production machinery and equipment in a manufacturing environment as part of a friendly team with a great manager.
Your background and experience could be from virtually any mechanical environment e.g. domestic, commercial, industrial, manufacturing, etc.. They are very open and flexible as further on and off the job training can potentially be provided. Your attitude and willingness to throw yourself into the role, and take the opportunity to make it your own ideally, are important.
Responsibilities and ideal experience for the role of Mechanical Maintenance Fitter / Engineer :

• Preventative maintenance

• Installation and breakdown repair
• Stripping down and rebuild of aged complex machinery

• Experience of some of - belts, bearings, gearboxes, hydraulics, pneumatics, valves and couplings

• Mechanical setups on machines

• Risk Assessments and understanding of H&S issues specifically with respect to machinery safety and isolations

• Stripping down machinery, identifying worn parts and rebuilding as part of preventative maintenance planned work.

• Breakdown repair, identify cause of failure and replace worn / broken parts.

• In time with experience assist the machine operatives with the more complicated machine setup tasks to improve quality and productivity on the machines.

• Refurbish sub-assemblies, build up and set to the required standards.

• Use of lathes, mills and welding would be an advantage.

• Adhere to health and safety policy and procedures

Background for the role of Mechanical Maintenance Fitter :

• Mechanical background - eg domestic, commercial, industrial, manufacturing etc

• Some sort of mechanical qualification would be ideal however experience is key ie NVQ Level 3 (or similar C&G, NVQ, ONC, HND, time served, etc.)

• Positive attitude to work and colleagues

• Team work
